Ooni's cheap pizza oven is a lot fun. However, some cooks might find it difficult to master the recipe.
You will need to wait until your oven cools down before you can place the cover or store it.
The oven doesn't come with a thermometer so you have to guess when it will be ready to heat. In most cases, however, it only took about 15 minutes to heat up. If rolling flames can be seen along the roof, it's ready to go.
Ooni Fyra 12 has a relatively small oven that can bake 12" pizzas. Ooni supplies the following items to run the oven: a thin pizza pan, all-natural fireplace starter and wood pellets. You can get all the above and an infrared thermometer as well as a waterproof carry cover in one bundle. This Ooni oven costs $349 as of publication, and comes with an unlimited three-year warranty.
This Ooni Fyra model also features the trademark foldable legs found in every Ooni oven. One of our favorite things, however, as mentioned earlier, is its compact and portable nature. The unit measures 27.17 x 18.9 x 10.24 inches. It’s a fairly small pizza oven that can be set up almost anywhere, with minimal space required.
With this in my mind, I set mine up on a wooden table placed on our patio. It's quite sheltered, with a garden wall on two sides and a fence on the other. This keeps it away from the wind.
Although I was initially surprised at the size of the Ooni Fyra Pizza Oven, it has proven to be its main benefit. It's lightweight and portable.
If you want to increase the heat inside the Ooni Fyra, you can simply adjust the chimney vent. By opening the vent and ensuring the chimney cap is removed, it will naturally increase the airflow inside the body of the oven and as a result boost the internal temperature.
I was also provided with Ooni Premium hardwood flakes and an Ooni 12’’ classic pizza peel.
Ooni Fyra 12 a small oven that can cook 12" pizzas. The fuel hopper is where you add wood pellets. Ooni sells thin pizza peels, all-natural fire starters and wood pellets. However, they are not included in the Fyra 12 package. All of these items can be purchased through Ooni, but not included with the purchase of a Fyra 12. The Ooni oven is $349 at the time of publication and comes with a three year warranty.
The real question is, however, whether the Fyra 12 can make a good pizza. As long as you are willing to navigate around its quirks, it's a simple yes.
As long as the oven was kept topped-up with pellets, it maintained its temperature well. I was able remove one pizza from the oven, place it back on the door, prepare the next pizza, and just put it in to cook. I didn't have to wait for the oven to heat back up for too long.
Does it deliver high-quality pizza? It is easy to use. Can it be used on the road? To find out, I used it for over a full month.
Ooni's most affordable pizza oven is great fun. Some cooks may find the learning curve too steep.
Two issues I have with the design are: the peephole that is meant to let you inspect a cooked pie without releasing heat, is too small to be able to see through. It is difficult to maintain consistent flames due to the small firebox at the back.
The Ooni Fyra 12 makes great pizza. You can make great pizza with whatever dough you choose (I have tried homemade and store-bought recipes). The result is perfect every time. After you've mastered your personal system, this oven can be used to make a delicious dinner for two or as the centerpiece of an event. The oven's compact design means that the oven can be easily stored in its narrow, stackable, box. I love Ooni. As someone who hates one-trick kitchen tools and large appliances, I was surprised at how much it loved and how quickly I made room for it in my house.
Ooni Fyra 12 can be used to cook other items, provided that you have the right cookware. Ooni has recipes for duck breasts and banana bread on its website. You cook these the same way as you would in a wood-fired oven, rotating to ensure that every angle is equally exposed to the heat source. You can use a small cast-iron skillet to do this, but the handle of your skillet will stick to the oven. Ooni has a cast iron skillet with a removable handle that will allow you to rotate the food in the pan. This is too fussy. The pan is small and flimsy, IMO. I'll stick with pizza.
Once we had all this accomplished, it was time to start cooking the next evening. My husband made a huge batch of pizza dough. Then, we converted our garden table to a pizza-making space. We've made our own pizzas many times before. However, they have to be cooked in an indoor oven.
Ooni Fyra pizza can be cooked outdoors. This tray will be your base for the fire. When the fire has blazed for about 15 minutes (you can look through the peephole in the oven front to see), you will add more fuel to your pellet feeder to ensure there is always fuel flowing into the fire. A pellet hopper that is full will last for around 15 minutes. The fire must be maintained strong by constantly replenishing it. It is best to not forget about it. If you do, your fire will soon become too cold.
We have also replenished wood pellets for our pizza oven and decided to use the Ooni-branded hardwood chips we were originally given as they work so well. The large bag of 10kg pellets (PS19.99), has been very reliable and cost-effective to use the oven.

Amazing stuff. It took just 10 minutes to set everything up, unpack everything and read the instructions.
The chimney is removable and allows air to circulate inside the oven. A second chimney is located on the backside. This is the pellet-hopper. It is taller than Ooni 3's, and almost twice as large.
We've enjoyed our Ooni Fyra Pizza Oven since it arrived. Since then, we've spent many an afternoon and evening enjoying garden pizza parties together as a family. And when lockdown rules allowed us access to our garden, we cooked delicious pizzas for all.

Ooni is the leader in backyard pizza ovens. Its Fyra 12 (349) is its most affordable model. Ooni's most mobile option is the Fyra 12. It weighs 22 lbs and uses dry hardwood chips as its fuel source. They are easy to transport and readily available in grocery and hardwood stores all over the U.S.
These accessories can quickly add to the cost of your pizza oven though, so although they are great additions to your outdoor cooking setup if you have the budget, they're not all essential.
The Ooni Oven has a vent on the back which helps collect air. This is a big difference to the others.
Add toppings right before you cook the pizza. If they sit on the pizza too long, the dough will become wet and will stick to the peel. 5 Feb 2021
The Ooni Fyra is an easy model to assemble and use, it's great for beginners who are interested in an entry level pizza oven. It doesn't use logs or gas, instead it uses wood pellets that are fed through a hopper into the oven, so once lit, there's no complications of managing the flames, or how to keep it going.

Simply put, not every crust works in a wood-fired oven but those that do are deliciously enhanced by the deep, smoky taste and appealing visual characteristics. 1 May 2019
