Historic mansion, the Wyeth-Tootle Manor is located at 11th & Charles sts. William M. Wyeth constructed it in 1879. The Gothic design was created by Eckel and Mann Architects. They gathered ideas from their European travels and built the mansion in 1883. The Tootles lived there until 1887 when it was sold.
The mansion has three floors, and a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. Beautiful woodwork and imported stained glasses are some of the interior's highlights. Visitors can also experience life in the late nineteenth century. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion is found in St. Joseph, Missouri. Huston Wyeth served several roles in the city as well. He was active within the city's arts and manufacturing sectors. He was president of St. Joseph Humane Society, and served as a member of the Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved at the American Museum of Natural History and the Waterways League of America. He was also a member, among others, of the Wyeth Duck Club and St. Joseph Duck Club. He also served the presidency of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
