The Wyeth – Tootle Manor is a historic house located at 11th & Charles sts. William M. Wyeth built it in 1879. It was designed in Gothic style by Eckel and Mann Architects. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles lived there until 1887 when it was sold.
The mansion includes three floors and one tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. Beautiful woodwork, imported stained glass, and hand-painted ceilings are just a few of the features found in the interior. Visitors can also experience life in the late nineteenth century. Huston Wyeth served several roles in the city as well. He was active within the city's arts and manufacturing sectors. He was also involved in the Waterways League of America, and the American Museum of Natural History. He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He also served the presidency of the St. Joseph Hardware Company.
