Wyeth-Tootle Mansion.
The mansion, which dates back to the late 19th-century, is filled with period furniture and art. You can arrange tours by appointment. History buffs should visit the mansion. The mansion hosts special events such as a black-tie gala.
The Wyeth – Tootle Manor is a historic house located at 11th & Charles sts. William M. Wyeth constructed it in 1879. The Gothic design was created by Eckel and Mann Architects. They had travelled extensively throughout Europe to gather ideas and build the mansion which was completed in 1883. The Tootles owned the house from 1887 until it was sold.
The mansion is three stories high and has a tower. There are more than 40 rooms inside the house. The interior is decorated with beautiful woodwork, handpainted ceilings, and imported stain glass. The interior allows visitors to experience the life of a late 19th-century resident. The Wyeth–Tootle Mansion can be found near St. Joseph in Missouri. Huston Wyeth held several important positions in the city, as well as being a businessman. He was involved in the city's manufacturing and art industries. He served as president of the Humane Society of St. Joseph, and on the board of Blue Valley Creamery Co. He was also involved with both the Waterways League of America (USA) and the American Museum of Natural History (USA). He was also an active member of the Wyeth Duck Club as well as the St. Joseph Duck Club as well as Audubon Society. He was also the president of St. Joseph Hardware Company which he owned and managed.
