Summary: Section Chairman Tom Ferri presented the 25-Year Silver Membership Award to Section Secretary Rick Moody. Moody’s niece Carolyn Holden, who has an interest in welding technology, attended the meeting with him. CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS/ RHODE ISLAND April 5 Location: Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School, Rochester, Ma. Presenter: Andrew Cardin, graduate of Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational High School, United State Representative and WorldSkills 2015 fifth place finisher Summary: Cardin discussed his experience and presented his journey from SkillsUSA to WorldSkills to the Old Colony welding students. Event: Kenneth Lord, owner, gave student chapter members a tour of the facility, and discussed the welding processes the company uses. Students had a chance to see orbital welding, purge welding, CNC laser jet cutting, automated press brake applications, and waterjet cutting. Students were treated to t-shirts and dinner by Lord. The following were present: Instructor Chris Baker, Owner Kenneth Lord, Tyler Kimmey, Nathaniel Lowe, Will Watkins, Gavin Mowery, Kobi Ruark, Cole Willey, Jake Morris, Biazzio Giordano, Hunter Hughes, Austin Nichols, Wyatt Barnes, Micah Brooks, Donavan Mundy, and Jody Jackson. North Montgomery County Technical Career Center S.C. May 13 Location: Lansdale, Pa. Activities: Student chapter meetings, a WEMCO video, and a presentation about being an AWS member were reviewed.
