3rd Welding Education, Skills & Certification Conference August 10–12 Houston, Tex. The impending skills gap in manufacturing continues to be a hot-button topic. In its third year, the Welding Education, Skills & Certification Conference aims to address the welding industry piece of the puzzle. How do we ensure we’re doing our part to deliver new, skilled professionals into this booming sector? Attend this conference to gain new insights, share best practices, exchange ideas, and be part of the solution. Lasers Conference August 29, 30 San Francisco, Calif. Lasers never seem to quit. Users have found ways to hook lasers up with other technologies like hybrid laser arc welding and additive manufacturing. Those two technologies will be emphasized in the AWS Conference on Lasers. There will also be presentations on laser cutting, cladding, heat treating, and peening. 19th Annual Aluminum Conference September 20, 21 AWS Headquarters, Miami, Fla. Aluminum is one of the most versatile and widely used metals in manufacturing, but its unique chemical and physical properties can also make it one of the most challenging to weld. During this popular, annual conference, a distinguished panel of aluminum industry experts will survey the current landscape of aluminum welding technology and practice. This year also features a new seminar format. The first day will continue to emphasize core aluminum joining technologies, while the second day will focus on new joining technologies and new aluminum applications. The conference will also provide several opportunities to network informally with speakers and other participants. 10th International Conference on Trends in Welding Research & 9th International Welding Symposium of Japan Welding Society October 11–14 Tokyo, Japan The 10th International Conference on Trends in Welding Research will be held for the first time outside of the United States. The conference covers not only the fundamental science of welding and joining but a wide variety of applications of welding and joining different materials in different industries, which include various approaches of theoretical analysis, experiments, and numerical simulations. The conference will also provide an opportunity for technical discussions, since leading welding and joining scientists and engineers from all over the world will be in attendance. The 9th International Welding Symposium of Japan Welding Society will be held jointly with the conference.
