Hobart Institute Adds Instructors Hobart Institute of Welding Technology (HIWT), Troy, Ohio, has hired Brian Sheward as an instructor for the structural welding and the combination structural and pipe welding programs. Sheward has more than 25 years of experience, and is a 1989 graduate of HIWT. Prior to this new role, Sheward worked for National Oilwell Varco as a UAW journeyman millwright. The institute has also hired Justin Wilson as a technical training instructor. Wilson is an AWS Certified Welding Instructor and has more than ten years of welding and inspection experience. He is a 2005 graduate of HIWT. His most recent position was with Effox, Cincinnati, Ohio. Eriez Announces Promotions Eriez, Erie, Pa., has reorganized its metalworking group and promoted three team members: Andy Kloecker, Darrell Milton, and John Mackowski. Kloecker has been promoted to manager, distribution and material handling. In this new role, Kloecker will be responsible for metalworking distributor 100 WELDING JOURNAL / JULY 2016 sales, supporting other product group sales, overseeing company material handling products, and more. Mackowski has been promoted to manager, technical service, Hydroflow®. In this role, Mackowski will be responsible for managing the field service team, product management of the company’s fluid recycling product line, and more. Milton has been promoted to manager, filtration systems, Hydroflow. In this position, Milton will assume product management responsibility for company filtration products. Florida Governor Recognizes Bettinger Welding CEO During a meeting of the Florida Cabinet, Tallahassee, Fla., Governor Rick Scott recognized Mike Bettinger, CEO of Bettinger Welding, Inc., Talahassee, Fla., with the Governor’s Business Ambassador Award. Since 1976, the family-owned business has specialized in creating ornamental handrails, gates, decorative artwork, and more. The company has created dozens of jobs over the past 40 years. Andy Kloecker Darrell Milton John Mackowski Brian Sheward Justin Wilson MEMBER MILESTONE Andrew Kireta Jr. ASTM International’s Committee on Copper and Copper Alloys (B05) has presented its top annual award, the Award of Merit, to Andrew Kireta Jr., Cooper Development Association, Inc., Franklin, Ind. The award, which includes the accompanying title of Fellow, is the organization’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards. The committee honored Kireta for outstanding contributions in copper forgings, cooper and copper alloys, pipe and tubing, castings and ingots, and more. He has been a member of ASTM since 1998, serving as B05.92 subcommittee chairman since 2011. He received the Arthur Cohen Memorial Award in 2007, and the Copper Club Award in 2014. Kireta is vice president of market development with the Copper Development Association, Inc., where he advises in areas such as strategic development, promotion, and support of copper and copper alloy products in the North American market. He has been with the company since 1992, having previously served as vice president of building construction, national program manager, technical project manager, and Midwest regional manager. In addition to ASTM, Kireta is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Plumbing Engineers, American Society of Sanitary Engineering, American Water Works Association, National Association of Corrosion Engineers, International Code Council, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), NSF International, and the American Welding Society, of which he has been a member since 1993.
