7.9 Organizational groups

In addition to regular groups for class, club, or other affinity group purposes, the Polar Cloud also supports a special form of group referred to as an organizational group. Organizational groups are not created by Polar Cloud members, and do not share objects or printers; instead, organizational groups are typically established for a school, or a school district, to specify school personnel as members authorized to use licensed curriculum.

If you are a teacher in a school or school district with a 3D printing program, you may already be a member of, or have received a join code or invitation to become a member of, an organizational group for your school program.

Organizational groups have “SUMMARY”, “MEMBERS”, curriculum MODULES”, “SETTINGS”, and optionally group “DISCUSSIONS” tabs like other groups; see Figure 7.56. But they do not have (and do not permit) shared objects or printers. Members of an organizational group may instead create their own (regular) groups for classes, clubs, etc., and then share objects and printers in their own groups.

Organizational groups have a special “STATS” tab for displaying statistics regarding the organizational group; see Figure 7.56.
