You may share objects you have created or printed through the Polar Cloud, either with all Polar Cloud members, or with members in particular groups, or only with specific other Polar Cloud members. To share an object, simply click the “SHARE” button (under “OBJECTS”, “MY OBJECTS”, the object itself), and then choose with whom to share the object; see Section 5.6 or Section 2.2. An alternative, more group-centric, way to share objects with a group is also discussed in Section 7.4.
Note that your descriptions of objects and any printing recommendations or tips you wish to provide, and possibly photos of your printed object, may be particularly useful to other members when you share objects; see Section 5.2.
You may also search for and find and use objects that others have shared within the Polar Cloud; see Section 5.6. (Note how it is useful when other members provide detailed descriptions and helpful printing tips for their objects!) You may add comments or ask questions regarding objects; see Section 5.11.
You may allow others to access your printer(s) – share your printer(s) – through the Polar Cloud. To make your printer accessible to particular, specified Polar Cloud members, see Section 9.2.3; to allow access to your printer to all members in specified groups, see Section 7.5.
If others have made their printer(s) accessible to you, you can use others’ printers. Accessible printers will show up in the list of printers displayed by selecting “Make” and then “Printers” from the Polar Cloud top menu; see Figure 2.4 (narrow displays) or Figure 2.8 (large displays).
You may create groups of Polar Cloud members with a shared characteristic (e.g., students in a class) or shared interests. A group is a particularly convenient way to share objects and share (access to) printers; see Chapter 7. Groups support discussions; see Section 7.8. Curriculum modules may also be assigned to classroom groups; see Section 7.6.
You may “LIKE” the objects of other members, and they may “LIKE” your objects; see Section 5.10. “LIKE”s are tallied and displayed on the object’s detail screen. You may also post “COMMENTS” regarding objects; see Section 5.11.
You may “FOLLOW” the activity of other Polar Cloud members, and they may “FOLLOW” your activity; see Section 4.2.
