Additionally, the AWS Board of Directors approved a matching fund for all new National Named Scholarships and all additions made to National Named Scholarships. This is an exceptional program where your money, if committed to National Named Scholarships, will be matched at 100%. The individual Sections determine the criteria for the scholarship and the selection of the recipient is done by the National Education Scholarship Committee. In addition, for a limited time the Board has approved a match of 150% for new Section Named and District Named Scholarships before December 31, with a minimum contribution of $8000. Lastly, the AWS Foundation needs your help to combat the shortage of welders and ensure that we have enough welding professionals in the next ten years to support our industry, particularly in your market area. For this reason, we would like you to consider a named scholarship to be given to a potential welding student in your area. A donation of $15,000, paid over three years, would be matched at 100%, creating a scholarship of $30,000. Interest generated from this fund should generate a local scholarship for $1500 at the end of three years when it is fully funded. These funds will be awarded by your local American Welding Society Section each year, based on your criteria. Let us tell you more about our efforts and personally enlist your financial support.
