The dolphins are wild animals in their natural habitat, they are not in tanks or netted areas. It is highly recommended that you wear polarized sunglasses to cut the glare on the water to be able to better see the beautiful wild dolphins. It is pretty rare for us to not see the dolphins.

The St. Andrews State Park includes the western half of Shell Island. It is as natural as Florida can get. You won't find yourself stopping at a snack stand or at a picnic table. It was great fun to relax on the catamaran while watching out for dolphins. We also enjoyed snorkeling, paddle boarding, and snorkeling. The staff were great! We also saw many sting rays and dolphins. There were very few fish that we could see while snorkeling but it was still a lot of fun.
Snorkeling is safe and easy for people of all ages. One of the best things about Shell Island is that the calm shallow water behind the jetty is the perfect place for first-time snorkelers to try the sport.
Agree with above, go around 11 a.m., to get the best of daytime sun, because April has some fairly cool days. over a year ago. I'd plan for late morning/early afternoon. There's no shade so if it is really warm you don't want to be there at the absolute hottest part of the day.
