This machine is the heart of it all. It can drill endless carbide holes at high speeds, with multiple spindles, and at high speed. Advantage-2 is the most productive drill line in the steel sector. This drill line supports shops over the long term thanks to its heavy steel frame. The Advantage-2 is able to run profiles from one end to the other without any stops in production thanks to its roller feed design for the outfeed and infeed. Many fabricators around the globe use their Advantage-2s every year to make hundreds of thousands of tons steel.

To ensure smooth operation and low maintenance, our beam drill machine machines come with linear guides and central lubrication. A 4-station tool changer is included in each coordinate system. It allows it to drill/mill, scribe/counter sink or tap as necessary. The tools can also be changed easily mid-operation. An arm attached to the rack and pinion on the feed conveyor is used to position the beam while it passes through the drill. Our steel beam drill lines are much more accurate that friction roller machines.
5-Axis Renishaw Calibration – The calibration unit is a Renishaw model APCA45 with a modified spherical stylus. The device has a retractable cover and air purge to clear debris & dust during the activation process. It mounts to a swing arm controlled by a pneumatic rotary, so it is out of the way during regular operation and swings into the calibration position for calibration only.

Automatic Edge Finder - The edgefinder can be used manual (Jogging Method and Screen Buttons), programmatically using M &G codes or fully automated with a dedicated program. This option sets offsets and rotates the program to match location and orientation on the cutting surface.
The ability to mill quickly speeds up project completion. With the Advantage-2 user-friendly Raptor 3DCAD/CAM program, it is possible to quickly program parts. Directly access the 3D platform to view, modify and export information. Advantage-2 drills are known for their scribing capabilities, the ability of milling slots and large lifting holes, and they also have the ability to trace. This is what really sets this machine apart. You can create layout lines, piece marks, and central points with the scribing. This flexibility has allowed us to use the scribing when we need it and make our own decisions.
Not every problem can be diagnosed with remote assistance. Mechanical issues or questions that require the human eye are still common. Voortman machines are shipped with high definition web cameras and software; allowing Voortman employees to directly experience the activity at the installation without the need to leave the office. The webcam has significant value in foreign countries or in situations where language might be a barrier to effectively communicate the issue.
Each of our beam drill line machines have linear guides, central lubrication, and a tool cooling system to ensure smooth operation and lower maintenance. Within each coordinate system there is a 4 station tool changer, allowing it to drill, mill, scribe, counter sink, or tap as needed; tools can even be swapped out mid-operation easily and without disruption. Positive beam positioning consists of an arm attached to a rack and pinion system on the feed conveyor to more accurately position the beam as it goes through the drill line, maintaining .004”, making our steel beam drill lines much more accurate than friction roller machines.

Concrete beams can be strengthened with steel reinforcement rods. A beam is subject to tension at the bottom and compression at its top. Concrete is strong enough to withstand great compression but very fragile when it experiences tension.
The hole size should not exceed 38mm (1.25 in.). The beam depth should not exceed one-tenth of the hole diameter, whichever is less, with the exception being 25mm (1 in.).
Theoretically, a beam could be any length provided it was properly designed. The issue is one of practicality. Although it's theoretically possible to have an RC beam 16m long, it is very difficult to have a reinforcement bars that are longer than 12m.
