Estates to Clubs: Nine Spaces

by Phoenix, HSM team writer

Many in Home have long felt that some of our sprawling estates should have been clubs, and or at least also available as club skins. Now some are just that. Take, for instance, the Hollywood Hills space. I wanted this for a club the minute I set virtual foot in the place. So when I purchased it, I decorated as a night club. You may remember I did an article on a fictitious headliner Mackie Chilson, who sang in the space. I loved that space; it fit so well with the theme of a night club. I’m glad to see it’s coming out as one soon. But there are still some estates that could benefit from club status. The following are just a few suggestions — feel free to add your own. They all have more than enough space, and some have more than enough seating.

Number 1.   This is a space that is no longer in Home. It was a public space, the Gamers’ Lounge. This was a great place to meet up and hang out. I spent many hours there talking, dancing and just hanging out with friends. I think it would be great if the Gamers’ Lounge was brought back as a club skin. There was plenty of space with the two floors. There were built-in games, upstairs and down. I don’t think it would need much else — there was lots of seating, and the design and atmosphere were perfect. I still know a few people that miss this place and would love to have it as a club skin.

mansionNumber 2.  The Mansion was mentioned as a possible club in my last article. The reason for this pick is the size and style of the place. The Mansion has that exclusive country club feel to it. The club version would include the infinity pool, and the second floor. Parts of the first floor would also be included: the entry way and the dinning room. All of these pieces would make the perfect country club space.

Could it all  be fit into one memory budget? I don’t know, but Home’s developers are making some really huge spaces these days. I think they could do it.

f2b9c5f612378282f1ba760c8c2b7663Number 3.  The Moonlight House, from Peakvox. This is one of the larger spaces in Home. It begs to be a club house, and that is exactly what I use it for. Though you can only have 12 guests in it at a time, it still works as a club. The two gardens in the space, the moonlight and the overall aesthetics of the place make it one of the coolest apartments in Home for a club space.

There is still room for improvement — for instance, the space could benefit from some baked-in seating. It could also use a little something as far as activities.  A  club needs music or games, or something else to make it a fun group space. Of course a portable EOD can be placed in the space, but I think it should come with at least one form of entertainment. Something built-in would also help the furniture slot allotment.

4328182806_d126df4a2e_mNumber 4.  Musicality, from nDreams. This is one of the biggest personal spaces, and one with a great activity in it. As a personal space, it is never going to utilize its full potential. This space is a “club” that should have been a club house from the beginning! If nDreams put this one out as a club now, I know I would purchase it. Put a full club membership list in here, and party on, people!

The band game will keep the party going for a long time. The club atmosphere is excellent. nDreams added everything that you need for a night club — seating, dark corners for privacy and what not, a balcony area, and then the stage itself. This space should definitely be a club house.

15389-fbe027753065c81f40b00d599cb88ac0Number 5/6.  The London and Irish pub apartments, from VEEMEE. What can I say — they’re pubs, already public meeting places, and they should be clubhouses. They could easily accommodate the full membership size of a club. You can use them as such, but if your club has over eleven members, it’s going to require shuffling to get everyone in to enjoy the space.

Like all good clubs, the Pubs already have baked-in music and games, as well as a small amount of baked-9n seating. They don’t need anything else, really. With your furniture allotment, you can add another table or two, and furnish the back room as a meeting area if you wish.

The Dream Yacht-127x127Number 7.  Either of the Dream Yachts from Lockwood publishing could have made perfect clubhouses. The Dream Yachts are more than sizable spaces, and they are also very beautiful. If the captains’ deck and control board was a game, that space would need very little else. As it is, it compares favorably to some of the other clubhouse spaces that lack built-in games and attractions. There is a reasonable amount of baked-in seating, including the two hot tubs, and the day/night controll adds a lot of atmosphere. Yes, the Dream Yachts could easily be made into club skins.

4bcca7d9c1406d6ac1a3df2006891a29Number 8.   On my list is the Fossil Museum from Granzella. This space would make a unique club space; it’s a three floored personal space. The space is visually interesting. The customizable ambient music and lighting should remain as part of a clubhouse. The fact that it’s a museum makes it interesting as a meeting place. The planetarium is interesting feature that adds to the feel of a space that needs people in it. This space too could use some baked-in seating.

The biggest matter that would have to be decided is the fossils. In the private space, the owner’s activities in Southern Island’s fossil digs slowly populates the museum. Would the same apply in a clubhouse space? Would each member see the fossils that he or she had collected? Or could there be some kind of club-wide game, that would let the members cooperate to fill the museum? This could provide some very interesting opportunities, if it was done correctly.

17344_Ty1Number 9.   The Tycoon Penthouse, one of the most spacious apartments in Home. This place has a great deal going for it already, from the helipad and elevator, to the gy-normous fish tank and hot tub. A penthouse clubhouse — why not? There is space aplenty, and the views are great.

If this space were added to the available clubhouse skins, I would buy it. Add a game, like mahjongg, backgammon or even reversi or some other attraction, and put me on the list now.

I’m sure my readers have other suggestions for personal spaces that would make excellent clubs. What spaces would you like to see as club skins in Home?

The one space I see as a club skin, and have since it came out, is the Silicon Lounge. It is still arguably the biggest space in Home, has a built it dance floor that’s interactive, a stage that’s the same and like I said it is huge. The setting is night time and it is a beautiful space for making up your own games and putting them on. I put some ramps out there and people were using them to skateboard and skate off of. Minibots works well there as well, and I am sure the new DYI cars would as well. It has baked in furniture already around a campfire atmosphere and an underground area for people who want privacy. It would be the perfect club skin.
    Nice article Phoenix.

For me, the big “needs to be a club” space is the LOOT Space Station. Ever since it came out, Homelings have been looking at it and thinking “MotherShip”. If the Flickr screens and Twitter feeds could work without the owner present, it would be an ideal club space.

The musicality appartment and Tycoon Penthouse are great suggestion. I know of a couple music base club who will jump on Musicality.
But, of course I have to mention the Novus-Prime Officers quarters. A “themed” setting, just enough place for a meeting and the best personal sapce game. Even the zero-G simulator can be fun for everyone without a furniture slot cost.
