“Mackie Chilson” — Home’s Fictitious R&B Soul Singer

by Phoenix, HSM team writer

How many of you remember classic music from the 50’s? Doo wop, jazz, R&B?

I may not be of that era myself, but I can remember songs from that period played on the radio and at my home growing up. Well, just like music is important in the outside world, so it is in Home. Everywhere you go in Home, you can probably find a lounge that plays some sort of music genre. I have heard everything from pop to rap of sorts here in Home, but no Jazz or classic R and B.

With this machinima, I would like to try to pay homage to one of my favorite singers and eras, Mr. Jackie Wilson and the Fifties. To do this, I have created his Home alter ego; if he had a Home account, I imagine he would be like this. I have also created a little show club to showcase my favorite singers. So please allow me to introduce my creation, Mr. Mackie Chilson. The song my Home creation will be performing is one of Wilson’s greatest hits.

Chilson is an R and B singer of great renown. He is famous all over Home, and is in town playing a limited engagement at the Neon Phoenix, decorated in the classic style of a twenties Jazz/ fifties soda shoppe/ club. The Neon Phoenix is just the thing to add a bit more whimsy to Home.

Thanks to LOOT, I can play my EOD here when I want to listen to this music. It would be fabulous to have a jukebox to play it from too, to give the music the right atmosphere. So I now invite you to come along and get your ticket to the opening show at the Neon Phoenix.

To the days when music was golden, Billie Holiday was Lady Day, Sarah Vaughn had the golden voice and Charlie Parker and Miles Davis produced music through brass, which shook the world. Jackie Wilson, a black soul singer, was instrumental in the transition between Rhythm and Blues into Soul. He was one of the most dynamic performers ever. Wilson was a member of the R and B vocal group the Domino’s before going solo in 1957.

It’s opening night at Home’s premiere night spot, the Neon Phoenix club. The Neon Phoenix is proud to present as its first headliner; the incomparable Mackie Chilson. Chilson is known for his soulful sounds and elegant dress. He will be in a limited three day engagement. Neon Phoenix, situated atop the Hollywood Hills, overlooks Home’s Los Angeles city view. This club is a must for those music lovers with a taste for the days of classic Jazz, and Soul.

Cool, thats a change from what we hear everywhere on home. Music before the autotune era. ;) It’s… refreshing lol
I agree with you. As a music fan, beside the EOD, the music choice is extremely limited on Home.

That was cool! I like Jazz.
It would be nice if we could get some trumptets, and saxaphone as a hand items. It would also me nice if the had custom animations.
    Very nice Phoenix!

  3. I like the article and the video very much. Well done.

Here’s Jackie from the TV series “Midnight Special”.
