Neighborhood Routes are located in residential
neighborhoods and provide connectivity to the
Collector and Arterial system. They do not serve
citywide or community circulation. Because
traffic needs are greater than a Local Street,
certain measures should be considered to
retain the neighborhood character and livability
of these routes. Neighborhood traffic manage-
ment measures are allowed (including devices
such as speed humps, traffic circles and other
devices.) New Neighborhood Routes that are
not in this plan may be established via the land
development process.
• The Neighborhood Route designa-
tion is appropriate for urban areas Neighborhood Route: SW 173rd Avenue
where neighborhood forms are
more compact and the routes are
much shorter than typically occur
in the rural area.
• Traffic management or calming
measures are allowed.
Commercial/Industrial Streets are a design ADOPTED TEXT
variant of the Collector Street designation and
are intended to provide access to commercial
or industrial properties. The application of this
designation through the development review
process may require a different design stan-
dard than the underlying functional classifica-
tion designation. Neighborhood Route: SW Scenic Drive
Neighborhood Route: SW Roxbury Avenue
