Collector Streets provide both access and
circulation between residential, commercial, in-
dustrial and agricultural community areas and
the Arterial system. As such, Collectors tend to
carry fewer motor vehicles than Arterials, with
reduced travel speeds. Collectors may serve as
freight access routes providing local connec-
tions to the Arterial network. General collector
characteristics can include:
• Collectors connect neighborhoods
to nearby centers, corridors,
station areas, main streets and
nearby destinations in the urban
area. Land development should
