Way to follow up a winner ABC!  I became aware of the network's latest promo for the final season of Lost this morning, thanks to our pal DocArzt and it simply pales in comparison to the greatness of Perdidos!  If you haven't seen it yet, take a look.  The forty-five second promo is the best I've ever seen in the show's five year history and yet it reveals no new footage.  Don't take my word for it?  Ask Carlton Cuse, who called it "the best promo ever."

How was this accomplished?  With good ole fashioned creativity.  Taking fabled moments from the Losties' time on the Island and repackaging them in a high concept environment, in this case the eeriest game of chess you've ever seen.  Added to the mix, a voice over that warns of a god who manipulates men like pawns and a destiny to be fulfilled by all, including the almighty.  No surpise that it's a riff on a poem from a Persian mathematician.  We know how fond the creative minds behind Lost are of numbers and those who've mastered them.  According to Sl-Lost, the folks who orginally brought the promo to the attention of Lost fans, the Spanish network CUATRO put the piece together, which smacks of many an excellent fan-made YouTube trailer.  Gracias CUATRO!

Now on to ABC's latest effort, which I'm having a hard time differentiating from their first season six promo.  We've got a booming voice over quickly rehashing the premise of the show to the lowest common denominator, with the same tired footage of Sawyer and Kate having a conjugal visit, 815 going down and Jack talking about destiny...again.  Ho hum.  Perhaps ABC thinks the American Lost audience isn't capable of wrapping their heads around anything beyond big explosions, sex scenes and three word sentences.  Check it out below and then go back and watch CUATRO's fantastic prelude and get psyched for February 2nd!
