For every studly heartthrob out there making ladies' hearts sing, there are two lazy slobs balancing the scales with humor. Funny fat guys go all the way back to Shakespeare's hilarious Falstaff. We may never fully understand what makes fat guys so inherently funny, but we're happy to have them. No matter how pretty Ryan Gosling becomes, we'd much rather spend an evening hanging out with Louis C.K. Here are the eleven best funny fat guys in TV and movies.

Jonah Hill is all quick-witted, intelligent vulgarity. Whether playing sidekick to a slightly less fat guy or starring in his own vehicles like The Sitter, you can count on Hill to bring some hard-core blue material that'll make you glad you're not watching with your mother in the room. He's may have lost some of his bulk recently, but he'll always be a funny fat guy in our hearts.

Peter Griffin is funny before you even hear him speak. For one, he's a pretty fat cartoon character. And two, his chin looks like a pair of testicles.
Once Peter starts talking, though, it only gets better. He's a boisterous, unintelligent delivery system for pop-culture references, absurd non-sequitors, and misguided assumptions that fly in the face of political correctness. We love him. We're also glad we're not related to him.

Not all frat boys are evil. Chris Farley managed to charm us with his innocent but wild man-child persona, thanks mostly to his ability to go absolutely manic at the drop of a hat.
Farley understood that nothing's funnier than a fat guy flailing around like a bouncy flesh-ball. More than any other fat funny person on this list, he purposefully mined comedy from his bulk.

The thing John Candy had over a lot of other funny fat guys is an undeniable sense of sweetness. It's hard to be both funny and good natured, but Candy made it work somehow.
Don't let that overshadow how funny he was, though. Uncle Buck, Armed and Dangerous, Planes, Trains and Automobiles and countless other classics can attest to the man's exalted place in comedy history. He earns a spot on this list for Spaceballs alone.

Zack Galifianakis has a weird brain. He's physically distinguished by his large body and beard, but his real trademark is a strong streak of surrealism in everything he says.
Most people probably know him from the Hangover movies, but the real Zack Galifianakis gold mine is Funny or Die's Between Two Ferns series where he conducts painfully awkward celebrity interviews that rarely end well. His stand-up comedy is also pretty amazing.
