Tips & Examples
As part of our look into Neutron’s General Functions, here are a few humble words of advice to consider as you mix:
- To avoid over-processing, use the module Mix sliders in the module chain to blend in some dry, unprocessed signal.
- Remember that Track Assistant results are not final settings, treat them as a starting point for your mix.
- When using the Compressor modules, try starting with one band and add more bands as needed.
- Use two EQ nodes in Dynamic Mode to control the sibilant areas of your track.
- Analysis can be great — but it has to sound good too, so don’t forget to A/B.
- Try blending the Exciter modes, such as: Tube/Tape on vocals or Tape/Retro on electric guitars.
- Unmask a mix by comparing all other tracks against the lead vocal.
- Compression Ratios are important. High ratios may suck the life out of a mix.
- Well defined kick drum and bass relationships are the bedrock of any groove.
- Use the EQ’s Learn function to help identify problem areas in your track.
