Kan Eang @ Pier
For almost 40 years, this Chalong institution has
been serving incredible dishes, mostly centering
on seafood harvested from the Andaman. It’s an
open-air eatery that offers stunning sunset views
across Chalong Bay, the mooring point for many
yachts. Highlights include its stir-fried prawns
with tamarind sauce, lobster in garlic butter and
creamy crab curry. Don’t miss the coconut ice
cream with water chestnuts for dessert. After a
wholesale overhaul a few years ago, Kan Eang @
Pier finds itself again at the very top of the pile.

Blue Elephant
It may not have the most fashionable
address, but Blue Elephant serves up meals
with a side of history. Part of a global
network of culinary schools and restaurants
with locations in Denmark, Dubai and
Malta, the local branch is housed in a grand
mansion in the Old Town. The building –
more than 100 years old – was the family
home of a tin-mining tycoon before it
fell into disrepair. The restaurant serves
Royal Thai cuisine, enabling you to sample
dishes enjoyed by the kings of old Siam.
