FALLING WATER
Built over a waterfall, this seemingly “hovering” house
was designed by America’s most renowned architect
Frank Lloyd Wright. Today, it’s a National Historic
Landmark and perhaps the most famous house in the
United States. (1939)
THE PUNAKHA DZONG
“The palace of great bliss” in Bhutan is the
second oldest
dzong
(fortress) in the country. A
majestic structure, it houses the sacred relics and
remains of Tibetan Buddhists Zhabdrung Ngawang
Namgyal and Terton Padma Lingpa. (1637)
THE KATSURA IMPERIAL VILLA
Kyoto’s famous Edo-period villa, with its
accompanying gardens, is one of Japan’s most
important cultural treasures. The gardens are a
masterclass in Zen horticulture and the many-
windowed structures are generally viewed as one
of the greatest achievements of civilisation. (1631)
