KOVOK

2014 is already shaping up to be a fantastic year for Home — and January has yet to even end.
With the holiday season over, and updates returning to their regular schedule, we’re already seeing an amazing list of items to peruse. And with one more Wednesday to go before February starts, we can expect the good tidings to continue.
One of the biggest news items so far this year: Home witnessed the introduction of a new developer, KOVOK, who unleashed images of a new product line on January 22nd. Raven Culture offered promising Victorian styling with a sense of deliberate atmosphere and backstory, with its ominous ‘Chapter 1’ emblazoned upon the preview imagery. Those with interests in European gothic should take heed of their first foray into Home.
SCEE and SCEA, at the time of this printing, are scheduled to see goods from KOVOK with the upcoming update on January 29th. I certainly hope that KOVOK will jump the Atlantic and grace American shores with more Raven Culture in the near future – in the meantime, European region users may enjoy further selection from KOVOK’s introduction into Home.
From KOVOK’s copy: “This week KOVOK introduces YOLO, a stylish, casual clothing line. The young spirit and exciting colors help you to experiment with creating new outfit combinations. The result? A trendy personal style. Dare to break the mould?”
The term YOLO (‘you only live once’) occupies a unique zeitgeist in modern society. On the one hand, it is recognition of the fact that life is short and one must live your life knowing it may end at any time. It’s too short, in fact, to get wrapped up in particular nonsense when you can make a difference in modern life, let alone in what other people think.
On the other hand, YouTube, Facebook, and any other repository of human experiences show that YOLO can be used as a foundation for all manners of behaviour. Drunken humans trying to ride a statue of a horse, only to fall off it in their inebriated state and the horse falling upon them? YOLO!
On the third hand it is also a celebration of youthful fire: that kid in everyone that wants to experience the world and enjoy life. KOVOK tosses in their celebration of this experience with their aptly-named YOLO line, a casual line intended to fill an evergreen need for ‘regular’ clothes. It is fitting that the line stresses ‘young spirit’ and trendiness – as this is precisely what you will receive.
The line doesn’t aim for gothic undertones, perhaps to offer some variety between updates, nor does it necessarily aim for punk to contrast Raven Culture. The clothing offered has much more in common with the college-age demographics and a bit with something hipster. If you ever walked around Sportswalk, noticed the college-like architecture, and wondered what a non-sports fan would look like around it, this is your answer.
This is a fantastic line for anyone wishing to find more trendy clothing lines on Home. Home has a history of adding fantastic elements amidst its more pedestrian fair – anyone looking for the latter will be greatly pleased for additional items. SCEE and SCEA users can expect these to hit stores soon.
