Granzella’s Christmas Bargains
by Estim20, HSM Editor
Ever since Irem left a void in Home’s content catalog, someone needed to replenish the users’ anime tastes. And I’d be lying if I said they weren’t big shoes to fill. A company such as Irem left not just a lack of content in Home, but a wave of popularity that most people would’ve suspected wouldn’t be duplicated
Whatever the case may be, Granzella picked up the torch and ran like a bat out of every possible known underworld to the finish line. It sought to be Irem’s spiritual successor and truth be told – dear god, did Granzella ever succeed. We’re talking such a seamless transition from old to new that it felt like this was meant to be; the spiritual successor fulfilled every whim so far and its catalog is growing.
In the resulting Japan-related deluge that is their content updates, Granzella found a few consistent methods of establishing itself, as had its peers. Speaking its name conjures up numerous images, such as consistency, premium content, and a trope crawl for all things anime. Chances are if you own something related to anime or Japanese culture in general, it’s stamped by Granzella. With its worldly window personal spaces adding to the festivities, it made a name for itself in Home’s purchasable content.
Among what it is known for is the holiday celebration. ‘Holiday’ is deliberately open-ended as Granzella appeals to both Japanese and European/American holidays, ranging from the Bon Odori Festival to Halloween to – currently – Christmas. If you’re familiar with Granzella’s earlier efforts, then you know it doesn’t exactly take the easy way out. Events are among Granzella’s most memorable forays into Home – if you fought the Kikai Empire, you can bear me out on this.
With that in mind: It’s now Week 2 in Home’s December update schedule. What does Granzella have to offer for the holiday spirit? How about SALES!
Straight from Granzella:
“For a limited time, Granzella brings you 5 sets bursting with variety! Each set is unique, so be sure to get your hands on them before this special sale is over.
ƒ4 Dec 2013 – 8 Jan 2014„
In the Fossil Digging Assortment Set, you’ll find 2 Personal Spaces: the Fossil Museum and My Private Hideaway, which you can decorate with your very own fossils. You’ll also get a set of the best tools for fossil excavation along with 60 GZ Tickets that you can spend at the dig site. Start collecting your own fossils today!
ƒ11 Dec 2013 – 8 Jan 2014„
In the Great Edo Assortment Set, you’ll get formal wear for men and kimono for women, plus more Edo Period style to help you live out the Ancient Japanese life you never knew you had.
The Swimsuit Assortment Set features bikinis, one pieces, and leis for women, and even some swim briefs for men.
Grab the School Assortment Set to get Japanese-style uniforms, bathing suits and more.
ƒ18 Dec 2013 – 8 Jan 2014„
Lastly, the GZ Tickets Set gives you a whopping 240 tickets so that you can play great Granzella minigames to your heart’s content!
*These sets are only available in the European region.”
The Fossil Digging bundle should be a fantastic bundle for those hoping to kick start that Indiana Jones flair. Tickets are included to spend on the paid evacuation site (one dig per ticket, three a day at that site) and the premium tools should help uncover rarer (and dinosaurier) fossil collection. What you find will be automatically displayed in the Fossil Museum provided, so get digging!
Great Edo of Nippon is a period piece where you can unleash your inner Rashomon (or Zatoichi) unto the masses. While the bundle doesn’t indicate the row houses personal space as part of its set, formal wear for both genders goes a long way in immersion. Fashion shows should also get a boost from the bundle in case there’s any desire to hold a little Edo wear therein.
And to round out the set: swimsuits and assorted school affair, followed by a ticket bundle. School uniforms and swimsuits are a common trope for anime shows, good for Nostalgia School Days and Glittering Sands. Tickets are good for any GZ space that offers games or photo booth – which, speaking of, is probably no coincidence that they offered a sale here. If you wear Granzella costumes while using photo booths, you get extra poses. Kudos for anyone who decides to wear space-appropriate attire while doing it.
Cats, Cats Everywhere
So how do you celebrate Christmas at your house? Yule logs, Christmas pudding, sitting on Santa’s lap and asking for that PlayStation 4?
Cats? Did someone say cats? Anyone?
More from Granzella:
“Granzella introduces the Silent Night Cat-style 10-piece Set, available in styles perfect for the season!
In this sexy cat costume, your holidays will be a little more risque than ever before.
The set contains a tube top fastened with a bell, miniskirt with garter belt, hand warmers, high heels, and cat ears. Both red and green variations are included.
If you wear this costume, you’ll be able to participate in the flight game in Granzella Plaza in Twilight. But that’s not all…By joining the flight, you’ll receive cute reindeer reward items! And as an added bonus, while wearing the costume, wreaths and bells will sparkle all around you.
With red and green colour combos, this year, it’s all about Holiday Cat Style!”
This is where the talk of events comes into play. Much like Halloween this year, Granzella decided to unleash a flight mini-game where you need specific items from Granzella’s catalog to participate. Playing the game rewards you with items to commemorate the experience and forever bless your wardrobe or inventory with seasonal items.
Some costumes are already upon us; this update will add a ten-piece set of cat-style costumes for the nekomimi in us all. Fitting the seasonal affection, they come in red and green; fitting the traditional image of the nekomimi, they are also for female avatars only. Male avatars will be left without an alternative, at least for this set. These costumes do count for the flight mini-game, which will reward you with reindeer items for your efforts. SCEA and SCEE users should look forward to these in stores!
