It’s Raining in Home

“A little rain never hurt no one.” — Tom Waits
They teased us with a video trailer at E3 in June. This week, Sony Computer Entertainment has once again begun teasing the PlayStation Home community with the arrival of the Rain kiosk.
In preparation for the upcoming release of this water world, Sony is giving us a sneak peak at the game with images and a video trailer of what’s to come. Upon entering the very wet Home Square public space, you are immediately rewarded with a wall hanging that appears to be made from driftwood and has a picture of the Home Square space with, of course, the Rain logo. Walk up to the kiosk and watch the video trailer, and you will receive a Rain inspired avatar for both genders.
For the uninformed, Rain is a new adventure game. Actually, I see it is a story of love with adventure mixed in for a little spice — just to keep things interesting. A young boy strolling the streets of his town has his life tossed upside-down when he glances at the silhouette of a young girl, and he himself then becomes invisible.
I think speculating about what we would do if we could be invisible is something we all have done. I know I have. I would bet the majority of the answers would be of the mischief variety, but this young man chooses to swallow the metaphorical red pill and embarks on an adventure of love as he continues to roam the puddle-lined streets and alleyways in search of the girl. Along the way, many obstacles in this grey and very wet world attempt to impede your quest, from invisible skeletal dogs sneaking out of a shelter, looking to make you into a easy meal to a series of puzzles that you must solve in order to continue on your journey.
Grab your umbrella and join me as we explore the world of Rain.

I need to check this out. Ever since I spotted a short clip of RAIN at E3, I’ve had my eye on it. It reminds me of Ico; that simple idea of selfless acts for love of the unknown, and the rescue of that which you desire.
Of course, all that emotional and sentimental stuff can be so easily ruined with fiddly controls or a dodgy camera, or even stupid solutions to puzzles;
“Ohh! OF COURSE you feed the plant with Orange juice to unlock the hidden doooor” -- y’know?
The game looks interesting enough for me, the music brings a tear to my eye..
These are my favorite games. Small titles that are affordable. It looks like a Papa and Yo style game. Can’t wait to play it this weekend!
Have you tried it yet scampi_73? Interested to hear your feedback…
