Here at nDreams, we love Halloween. And we love PlayStation®Home. So we’ve laid on a special week of Halloween goodness inside Home, culminating in the 19-hour long round the world nDreams Halloween Party.
Off we go a haunting…
It all begins on Thursday 27th October as a special Halloween Aurora is launched. It’s eerie, spooky and all it needs is you, dressed in your spook-tacular Halloween costume. The new nSanity crazy heads range features some of the most fang-tastic avatar customisations we’ve seen. With Europe getting the Bling Reaper and Epic Reaper costumes for the first time and North America getting the Bling L’il Reaper companion (witch launched last week in Europe), creating your deadly new look couldn’t be easier!
On Friday 28th October, we’ll give you details of a week-long Halloween competition – get spookily creative and you could win a prize.
Then on Halloween itself (Monday 31st October), we’re inviting everyone to join us in Aurora for a 19-hour round-the-world Halloween party. We’ll be hosting the Truly Terrifying Quiz (with prizes) while whizzing between Asia, Europe and America on our broomsticks to give away spell-binding (ouch) prizes. The party starts at 9pm in Australia and finishes at 10pm West Coast time in the U.S. (that’s 10am GMT on 31st October to 5am GMT the following morning!)
So join us, for the most spook-tacular Home event of the year!
NorseNote: Now this is interesting.
I’ve no idea what the costs are for a shindig like this, but it stands to reason that nDreams will enjoy even more traffic than usual as a result of this event. How much of that translates into additional revenue for nDreams is anyone’s guess (I’d love to see the pro forma on it), but it’s nonetheless quite a PR coup any time a major developer decides to throw a social event in Home.
And this does bring up a question. The desire for more social events, to foster a greater sense of community, is an oft-repeated request on the Sony forum and elsewhere. From a business standpoint — not a “give me free stuff” standpoint — what would you say are the demonstrable benefits for Sony or a third-party developer to hold such community events?
its a great idea! i think n’dream aren’t noobs, they know than the benefits (just for their image)are more bigger than the real cost!
personaly i love n’dream & lockwood for their great implication in home, somes devs should follow this exemple instead create stupids items which divide our comunity…..
I think it’s a great idea to have developers host events. nDreams has always produced great content and so I am definitely looking forward to their halloween party, which I think will further promote their awesomeness ^__^
People move products, products don’t move people.
Again, it all goes back to the “experience” factor -- in this case though, it’s not so much “how much is an experience worth to you (the consumer),” but rather “how much of an investment are we (the provider) willing to make in our present customer base to provide them with the best experience we possibly can, so that they in turn can tell everyone they know about our products and services?”
And nDreams has a track record of being willing to bet big. And this, I feel is a very smart move on their part. They have the experience to execute such an event perfectly.
If the global Home community turns out the way I think they will for this event, then it will certainly solidify nDreams’ name and standing, and will most certainly pay off for them in the long run. People who may have only given their offerings a passing glance in the past will likely look at their work more closely now. And if they thoroughly enjoy the experience they get from this event, they will undoubtedly tell their friends about it, thus spreading the word.
With more brands and developers entering the Home community, an incumbent developer has to do something to make themselves stand out, something that the whole community can take part in and enjoy. Reputation alone isn’t enough these days.
It’s little wonder they have been nominated for so many awards and are a ‘Smarta 100′ winner. Now if they could just notify us about these nominations so that they could have the full force of the Home community supporting them the next time, that would be phenomenal (hint hint).
No pressure, guys. No, none at all.
1 way this event will help out nDreams, this party will be a way for them to really push the items you listed above,as well as any others they wish, for sale.At an event like this I’d expect a certain amount of “pitching” so I fully expect them to try to sell me things while I’m there, and you know what?IF the items interest me I will buy them, and not only myself but any friends that pop in just to see what the party’s about or that I invite will also probably do the same.
