Test run
After the wiring checklist has been completed, follow the instructions below to test the Clean Power VFD.
This test procedure uses the digital and analog inputs of the Clean Power VFD to control it.
Unloaded motor
Check that the motor is separated from its mechanical load.
Turn on the power supply
Turn on the power supply to the Clean Power VFD. Ensure that the HMI and LED's are ON.
1) Switch on the breaker upstream the Clean Power VFD.
2) If you power the control board via its 24VDC, switch it on to check its operation.
Setting
Use the mobile App to set the motor and Clean Power VFD's parameters
Motor parameter
Follow the wizard to set the motor parameter accordingly to its nameplate
I/O's configuration
Select the I/O's preset configuration complying with your wiring.
Frequency reference
Select the frequency reference as external from Analog input 1
Acceleration and deceleration
Set acceleration and deceleration times taking into account that this test runs an unloaded motor
Download
Follow the App instructions to download the settings into the Clean Power VFD
Press the run button: Start the motor and check the motor rotates in the correct direction.
If the forward command is on, the motor should rotate counter clockwise when viewed from the load side of the motor.
If the motor rotates in the reverse direction, stop the motor immediately.
Then turn off the power supply to the Clean Power VFD.
Wait 5 minutes for the capacitors to fully discharge.
Finally, switch the cables at the U and V terminals.
Restart this test run from step 1.
Change the speed
Increase slowly the analog input value, then decrease it slowly.
The motor accelerates and decelerates accordingly to reach the speed set via the analog input
The set speed is displayed in the HMI
Acceleration and deceleration
Ensure that the motor accelerates and decelerates according to the set times and that the motor speed reaches the frequency reference.
Adjust acceleration and deceleration times.
Adjust torque boost parameters as described in [section ...]
and download your new settings if any.
If you use the STO function, test its operation:
- Open STO1 / STO2 when the motor is running.
- The motor should stop because the Clean Power VFD deactivates its output.
- Try to start the motor while STO1 or STO2 is not activated. The motor should not start.
If the STO1 / STO2 is not operating as expected, check the wiring.
If they are still not operating as expected, call SmartD technical support for assistance.
