HENRY HAGG LAKE

 PERIMETER ROADS REPAIRS

 CLOSER TO COMPLETION

Henry Hagg Lake is home to beautiful picnic areas, two boat
ramps, a fully stocked lake and nearly 15 miles of hiking trails.
It hosts about 1 million visitors annually.

The area is also prone to landslides, which wreak havoc on roads
 around the lake.

“As a project manager, I take great pride in improving our roads,”
said Stephen Cruise, Project Manager. “Unfortunately the perimeter
road around Hagg Lake has fallen below the County’s high expec-
 tations for road conditions.”

In 2015, LUT’s Operations and Maintenance Division staff began
a three-phase project to mitigate multiple landslides, replace sev-
eral culverts and rebuild sections of the road. Phase One started in
July 2015 and improved Scoggins Valley Road between West Shore
Drive at the Scoggins Valley Dam and Stepien Road. Work included
a landslide mitigation project, drainage improvements, two culvert
 replacements, guardrail upgrades and paving.
