Group tiles display the group profile image, if the group has a profile image, or a portion of the group banner image, if the group has no profile image. More recently, the Polar Cloud assigns a randomly selected banner to a group when the group is first created.
Optionally, you may customize your group by adding a profile image, to be displayed full-size on the group “SUMMARY” screen or in icon form in other Polar Cloud references to the group. If your group is “PRIVATE”, only the members of the group will see this group photo: for instance, in icon form in the list of groups under their “MY GROUPS” display. But note that if the group is “MODERATED” or “PUBLIC”, then this group photo will be visible to non-members; for instance, under the “PUBLIC GROUPS” display (see Figure 10.15).
To add a profile image, go to the group’s “SETTINGS” screen and click the “PROFILE” button. At the “GROUP PHOTO” pop-up screen, select the desired image.
Optionally, you may customize your group by changing the randomly assigned banner image (or adding a banner image to an older group without a banner), to be displayed across the top of the group screen. If your group is “PRIVATE”, only the members of the group will see this group banner image as only group members will be able to get to the group screen. But note that if the group is “MODERATED” or “PUBLIC”, then this group banner photo will be visible to non-members, perhaps on the group tiles listed under the “PUBLIC GROUPS” display (if the group has no profile image), or in any case visible to non-members who click the group’s tile display to view the group’s “SUMMARY” screen (which is the only group screen non-members can view).
To add a banner image to your class group, go to the group’s “SETTINGS” screen and click the “BANNER” button. At the “GROUP BANNER” pop-up screen, select the desired image.
Click the “SAVE” button (towards the upper right) after adding or changing a profile image or banner image.
