5.9 Deleting an object

In general, there is little need to delete objects from the Polar Cloud, and you may wish to retain them in your Polar Cloud account for future reference. However, if you have an object whose .stl files or OBJ files are deeply flawed, or which was quite unsatisfactory in other ways, you may wish to remove it from your Polar Cloud account, so that you don’t unintentionally refer to it and perhaps start printing it again in future. (Deleting your object also removes it from the “OBJECTS SHARED WITH ME” lists of any Polar Cloud members with whom the object had been shared; so to some extent it “unshares” your object. However, keep in mind that such Polar Cloud members could have downloaded a copy of your object while they had access to it; so while deleting an object deletes and unshares it under your name, it does not necessarily mean that the object is utterly erased from the digital world!)

To delete one of your objects, whether entirely private, shared with some specific other Polar Cloud members, or shared with a group, select it (from where it is listed under “MY OBJECTS”, or OBJECTS SHARED WITH ME”, or a group’s “OBJECTS”) to get to the object’s detail page, see Figure 5.4. Then click “EDIT” to get to the object’s manage screen; see Figure 5.17. Then click the red DELETE” button towards the top.

If, rather than deleting an object entirely, you wish instead to remove a particular .stl file or OBJ file (for the case of an object comprised of multiple .stl or OBJ files), or remove a subsidiary descriptive file, or remove an image file, then on the object manage screen’s lower pane, click the “FILES” or PHOTOS” tab, as appropriate, hover the cursor over the icon of the file you wish to remove, and then click the red trash can icon.

Objects that have been shared publicly (“COMMUNITY OBJECTS”) cannot be deleted.
