With FlashForward in full (mediocre) swing and V one-quarter of the way through its four-episode "pod" rollout, we're already on to the next big thing, NBC's Day One. Coming from Jesse Alexander, who honed his writing chops on shows like Lost, Alias and Heroes, I've previously described Day One as a kind of The Day After meets Melrose Place. The series focuses on a group of apartment complex dwellers who band together to sort out the aftermath of an cataclysmic disater, allegedly due to an alien invasion. Before you can say "what? another show about stuff blowing up and people dying thanks to creatures from outer space?!" we've compiled everything we know so far about the impending alien apocalypse!
- The series was originally given a thirteen-episode order, but NBC is apparently feeling a little gun shy about Day One. Like ABC's V, NBC has decided to run Day One as a four hour miniseries. If the ratings are there, a series order will surely follow. (Variety)
- Day One will most likely premiere in early March, post Olympics. (Variety)
- What exactly causes all this upheavel you see in the shot to the right? According to Ain't It Cool, "Massive meteorite-like projectiles come crashing into the Earth from all around the planet. The projectiles then melt, reform and shoot out of the ground, beanstalk-like, to form bizarre towers twice the length of the tallest man-made skyscraper. A circuit-frying electro-magnetic pulse knocks out all electronics and communications, “War of the Worlds”-style." Yup, that'll do it. (AICN)
- Luckily for us spoiler fiends, Day One's trailer has leaked online! (UGO)
