Best Spider-Man Villains

Herman Schultz was an engineer with a simple dream: screw work, I'm going to rob a bank! Creating gauntlets that fire powerful vibration waves and a quilt-like armor to absorb the effects, Schultz took a stroll to steal some dough. Spider-Man swung into action, but the projectile-powered villain bested the famous hero. Naturally, Shocker would lose time and time again, but over the years he'd update his armor, allowing it to destroy webbing on his eyes and easily stand up to Spider-Man's punches. In the pages of Peter Parker: Spider-Man, the classic villain gave his armor a massive upgrade and absolutely dominated Spider-Man. Shocker also had a short-lived career on the Thunderbolts and will soon appear in the comic Villains for Hire.

When Venom's offspring bonded with the murderer Cletus Kasady, the blood-thirsty villain known as Carnage was born. Proving too powerful and deadly for Spider-Man to take on alone, Pete was forced to team-up with Venom (don't worry, he's in the list) to barely defeat the evil symbiote. Carnage later formed a team of equally blood-lusted foes and began a killing spree across Manhattan. This violent (and infamous) event forced Spider-Man to the edge of his morals, disputing whether the red villain should be put down for good. Sentry didn't have that dilemma, though. The cosmic hero flew Carnage into orbit, and had no issue delivering a tear-in-half fatality on the mad-man.

Apparently, that was but a mere flesh wound because Carnage is back in business and will begin his killing-spree across the nation in 2012.

Quentin Beck has been a thorn in puny Parker's side since Amazing Spider-Man #13. The master of illusions and classic Sinister Six member first tried to boost his fame by taking on Spider-Man, incorrectly believing it would be an easy victory. And on that day, a grudge was born. As expected by readers, the friendly neighborhood hero was no push-over and Mysterio would try to earn his victory over the years with illusions, gas, robots, and so much more. He's quite possibly the only man in Marvel to use more life model decoys than Nick Fury and we're sure we'll see more of Mr. Fishbowl in the future.

Army surgeon and gifted genius Curt Connors had good intentions. The man simply wanted to create a serum to re-grow his amputated arm, a discovery that would benefit millions. He was successful, but the serum mutated him into the lethal Spider-Man enemy, the Lizard.

The two have had plenty of violent back-and-forths over time, with Spidey often needing luck with a side of plot to save him from Lizard's superior strength and durability. Recently in The Gauntlet, the Lizard persona has slapped aside Connor's morals and taken almost complete control. In a tragic scene, the conflicted villain murdered his own son. This new version of the fiend also has the ability to tap into a person's brain, forcing the predator/prey instinct to take over. Lizard abused this power to force chaos on the modern world, but has since fled into the sewers.
