Best Movie Ever: Pulp Fiction

I said Goddamn! The eleven reasons why Pulp Fiction is the best movie ever.

Quentin Tarantino's love letter to trashy storytelling altered the pop culture landscape more than any other film in the 1990s. Its blend of comedy and violence spawned countless imitators as did its non-linear storytelling. Sadly, it also brought back John Travolta, so not everything about this picture is so rosy.

The film that brought us golden briefcases and Sam Jackson quoting the Old Testament is now available in glorious 1080p. As we crack open our new Blu-rays, we're reminded that Pulp Fiction is the best movie ever.

Christopher Walken's butt always knew what time it was.

Vincent Vega's Death

"Whaaaaat," followed by "noooooo" was what the woman sitting next to me said when I first saw Pulp Fiction.

Did the main character just get gunned down by a random shot of bullets in the middle of the movie? As he was coming out of the bathroom?

Even with the twisted chronology of the script, Tarantino proved he just wasn't playing by the rules with this movie, and that anything could happen.

Bring Out The Gimp

This sentiment extends into the sequence as Butch races away in a car... only to see Marcellus Wallace crossing the street! Shots cause mayhem, a passerby is hit (again, anything can happen!) and the fight makes its way into... what is this place exactly?

A ridiculous scenario is only believable if you shock the audience with the most lurid thing you can think of - and in this case it is a random dungeon of sex abuse lurking just off a busy street.

While this scene may have baffled (and disgusted) a few audience members, it did give us the phrase "get medieval on his ass." So that's a good thing.

Ezekiel 25:17

The first time Sam Jackson recites this bible passage he ends it with "And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

The second time he says "And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

What does that mean, man?

The Wolf and His Woman

I've seen Pulp Fiction a hundred times and every time I'm still surprised when Julia Sweeney shows up.
