Our Values

We exist as a church community for the greater glory of God and the salvation of humanity...

Hear Pastor Tom's message on our Values

    • We want to be a church that is rich with the presence of God.
    • We want to be a 'soul winning and disciple making' church, proclaiming the full gospel.
    • We want to be a church putting practical feet to the gospel that impacts our community.

Matt 28:16 - Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him (presence), but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me (power of the Lord’s presence). 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching (proclamation) them to observe (practical) all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age (presence).”

Without presence  |  we have no power
Without proclamation| we make no difference
Without practicality |  we get no traction or movement

    Our Values

    1. The main and the plain.

John Wimber would always look back to what the Scriptures say on the page. We’re going to base everything we do on the Scriptures. You live out who you are, and who you are is based on the Scriptures and how you’ve experienced the kingdom of God up to this point. So we teach the Bible faithfully, giving people “the main and the plain.”

    2. The already and the not yet.

In the Vineyard, some people are sick, and some people are healed. We pray for people, and some things get better and some don’t. Our theology and practice of the kingdom of God makes it so we don't have to make anything up. We're not pretending or telling stories that didn't really happen. It’s either the kingdom of God came and did something, or it didn’t. It gives us this beautiful theology and practice: The kingdom is here, but it hasn't come fully yet. We pray, “Lord, let your kingdom come.” We are called to heal the sick, raise the dead and cast out demons, and we'll continue to do that. And we'll do it with integrity as the Spirit moves.

    3. “Come, Holy Spirit.”

This is our central prayer liturgy. As Carol Wimber used to tell us, “There should never be a time in our gatherings together that we don’t invite the Holy Spirit.” We already have the Holy Spirit through Jesus, but we all still “leak." So we all need that constant filling of the Holy Spirit.

    4. We are worshippers of God and rescuers of souls.

We love God and love people. Being worshippers of God means cultivating intimacy with Jesus. And we provide a safe environment for people to be touched by the Lord’s presence inside and outside of our church buildings.

    5. Everyone gets to play.

This is how we do ministry. Whether it’s speaking prophetic truth or healing people or prayer or other ministry, everybody can do it. You can watch other people and learn from them. We don’t have an elite or any superstar leaders. We’re all going to do it.

    6. Come as you are, but don't stay as you are.

You’ll be loved no matter what state you come to the Vineyard in. But we’re committed to discipling people of all nations, and we believe Jesus has the power to change and grow and make them new.

    7. Naturally supernatural.

We cultivate a relaxed atmosphere in the Vineyard. It’s not about hype or emotional manipulation. It’s about doing what we’re already doing, and then if we stop to prophesy and pray for people and for healing, so much the better.

We feel that we're in a pivotal chapter of Vineyard history, and the Lord’s got a lot for us. We’re stepping into a new chapter, and we've got a lot of great things to celebrate that God has given us, but He’s also asking us to step into the future as healthy souls.

    8. The least, the lost and the lonely.

We lean toward the lost, the poor, the outcast and the outsider with the compassion of Jesus. We believe that ministry in Jesus’ name should be expressed in concrete ways through the local church. The poor are to be served as though serving Jesus himself. This being the age of grace and “the year of the Lord’s favor,” compassion should constitute the leading edge of our service to God, each other and a broken world.

    9. Prayer.

    10.  Reconciling Community.

Jesus is reconciling humans to God, to each other and to the entire creation, breaking down divisions between Jew and Gentile, slave and free, male and female. Therefore, we are committed to becoming healing communities engaged in the work of reconciliation wherever sin and evil hold sway. We seek to be diverse communities of hope that realize the power of the cross to reconcile what has been separated by sin. We are convinced that the Church-- locally, nationally and globally-- is meant to be a diverse community precisely because Jesus is Lord over every nation, tribe and tongue. We are not satisfied with the status quo when it doesn’t reflect this kingdom reality but are eager to pray for the coming of God’s kingdom here and now and to realize this mark of the kingdom in our midst.
