When you allocate components to work orders, those components can't be picked and used for any other work order or used for anything else. If you know you're going to need specific components for a work order and either you've ordered them especially for that work order, or you just want to make sure you've got them reserved, you can allocate them to a work order.
To choose which item attributes you want (and don't want) to use to allocate items to work orders, create allocation profiles for items before you start allocating them.
You allocate components to a work order after you release it, but before you kit components or record operations that use those components.
If you've selected Allocate on Receipt for a component on an item specification, when you run MRP Kenandy orders the component automatically. Then when you receive the component, Kenandy automatically allocates it to the work order that needs it.
Note: If you don't see attributes you expect or want to see, check the allocation profiles. The profile may exclude that attribute.
Kenandy updates the Material Tracking record for each component you allocated to include the Quantity Allocated you specified.
Kenandy does the following:
If your assembly item includes kitted components, Work Order Kitting now.
If your assembly item has only backflush components, start working on the work order and record operations when you complete them.
The following table lists the fields that Kenandy provides. Your system administrator selects the fields that are displayed on your user interface.

| Custom item attributes, such as color, size, shape |
Item attributes you can use to identify the component you're allocating to this work order. |
| Date Received |
The date your company received the components available for allocation. |
