Centrifugal barrel tumbling machines are the fastest and most cost-effective method for deburring and/or polishing large quantities of metal parts at once. Also known as an industrial tumbler, rotary tumbler or harperizer system, a centrifugal barrel finishing machine uses a cyclical sliding action to grind the metal surface. Centrifugal barrel finishing is a type of mass finishing.

These machines are suitable for seven-day-perweek and multiple shift operations. The machines were designed with heavy production requirements in mind. The three types of work that centrifugal barrel-finishing machines can do are known as steps. You may not need to perform all the steps depending on the surface finish requirements of your product. There may be one step, two steps or three steps in your process.

Polishing is typically a dry process that uses ground-up corn cob media with embedded polishing compound. Dry processing can also be done with ground-up walnut shells.
