Voortman uses roller conveyors to move steel through the machine. Gulf States Saw & Machine Co. offers a modular system specifically designed for this machine. This modular system is known as the Ocean Eliminator. It features infeed and outfeed powered roller conveyors and powered lift and cross transfers.

These two features have been designed to improve cutting precision. They are not standard on beam coping machines. Voortman comes with them.

Beam Coping Machine Battery

Along with the basic unit that has some optional upgrade features, there is also the fully upgraded APC 1200. It has combination plasma and oxy-fuel cutting with both torches mounted on a pivoting head. They will flip one to the other interchangeably via computer control in a second without having to do anything manually. The machine is operated primarily with the Plasma to maximize efficiency. It is preprogrammed to automatically switch to the Oxy Fuel when the material thickness is beyond the cutting capacity of the Plasma. This upgraded unit comes standard with the laser probing for automatic height adjustment.

Programming the CNC Beam Coping Machine is extremely simple, even if done manually. The machine programming software is Peddimat. Most operators will be able to program most of the parts in no more than an hour. Of course practice makes perfect. The best method to program the machine is by import parts directly from an CAD drawing. These files can then be imported directly to the machine. Sometimes the operator will need to edit a part program to ensure smooth cuts. In these cases, he simply selects the part that he wants to process and hits the Cycle Star button.
