It is difficult to reduce the number of hours spent on steel fabrication. To increase their shop capacity or efficiency, fabricators worldwide use this tried-and-trued technology.
The main reason is cost. A plasma-cutting process can produce a high level of carcinogenic dust. This dust must be captured in an extraction filtering system. This and the cost to completely cover the machine to evacuate it raise the price significantly beyond what an average fabricator is willing to pay to get a beam coping solution.

Voortman uses an extremely durable torch nozzle. This varies with how hot it is. It is nearly impossible to bend the torchnozzle due to its break-away head, which deflects the torchnozzle. But, eventually the nozzles will wear down due to heat from the gases passing through them. Replacement torch tips cost around $75 per tip.

Preheat the I-beam using the torch flame. To start cutting, grab the torch trigger and hold it. Holding the torch trigger, point it at the outer edge to cut along the line. You can stop if necessary and then continue where you left off.
To remove more wood from the back, angle the coping saw 30 degrees. Pro tip: Trimmings that have been cut with coping cuts can often leave thin, pointed tips. To prevent them from splintering, support the tips with your finger while you file, cut, or sand. Pro tip: Keep your eyes on the outside of the line.
The ideal thickness for aluminum copings According to architectural fabrication manuals, a thickness of 2.00mm is recommended for coping widths of up to 550mm and 3.00mm for those that exceed 650mm. These are only guidelines.
