Navigate the Home Page

After logging in to HMH Ed™ and (for first-time log in) going through class set up, the Home page appears. This page includes a list of your classes and direct links to open them, a link to your rosters, the ability to set up classes, a checklist to aid in planning your work, and a link to training options available to you.

Letter A

 Banner Links and Tabs

 

 The links and lists at both ends of the banner are common navigation features available at the top of all pages in Ed.

Ed, the HMH Learning Platform logo link – returns to the Home page from any other page

 

User Menu

Username drop-down list

      Switch Profile – (if available) for users with more than one user role account and/or accounts in more than one school, allows you to switch between accounts without logging out

      User Profile – opens the My Profile dialog box, which allows you to edit your grade, subject, and program selections for Teacher Success Pathway content (See Edit Your Teacher Pathway Profile for details.)

      Ed Updates – opens the Ed Updates page, which lists current and previous updates to Ed (See View Ed Updates for details.)

      Linked Accounts – (if available) for users with accounts linked to Google Classroom, opens a dialog box, allowing you to sign in or out of Google

      Log Out – ends the current session and closes the online learning system

 

 

Coachly Link

Coachly link – (if available) for users with Coachly licenses, opens Coachly panel, which provides you with one-on-one coaching from trained HMH professionals (See About Coachly for details.)

 

Help Icon

Help icon

Help (question mark) icon– launches the comprehensive Ed Teacher help system in a new browser window (See Get Help for details.)

 

 Banner Tabs

 

 The tabs in the banner are common navigation features available near the top of all pages in Ed.

 

Home

Opens the Home page, which includes a list of your classes and direct links to open them, a link to your rosters, the ability to set up classes, a checklist to aid in planning your work, and a link to training options available to you.

 

My Classes

Allows you to create and manage classes and student accounts, select programs for your classes, and manage assignments that you have created. See the following topics for further details:

Bookshelf

If you are a Read 180 user, you see a Bookshelf tab in HMH Ed™. This tab offers access to the Read 180 Bookshelf. See Read 180 Bookshelf for details.

 

Discover

      Opens the Discover – HMH Resources page, which allows you to select programs, view content, see standards, and open resources; opening resources allows you to assign content to students and select content for your customized lessons. (See Navigate the Discover Page for details.)

      Provides access to the My Stuff page, which allows you to create, store, and access customized lessons and assessments (My Lessons and My Assessments) as well as view and access lessons shared with you by other users (See Create Lessons and Create Custom Assessments for details.)

 

Reports

Opens the Reports page, which allows you to view a series of prebuilt reports that provide quick access to critical information and provide instruction (See Navigate the Reports Page for details.)

 

Teacher's Corner

Offers a variety of teacher resources specific to the class and grade that you are teaching (See Navigate the Teacher's Corner Page for details.)

AI Tools

Provides access to an assortment of AI tools (See Open AI Tools for details.)

 

 System Alert

If Ed has any service or feature degradations or interruptions, a System Alert message appears at the top of the Home page, just below the banner tabs. The message will provide the details you need to know regarding any issue.

Letter B

 My Classes

 

The My Classes section provides a list of your classes. In this area, you can select a class to view a class, set up classes that have not yet been configured, or open your class roster page.

    In the My Classes area, you can manage classes as needed:

      If you have multiple classes, you can use the Sort by list to sort your class list and locate the class you want to view.

      To quickly identify your favorite classes, click the bookmark icon bookmark icon in the class card. The selected bookmark icon appears as solid blue and moves the class card to the top of the list in your My Classes area.
Once you have bookmarked classes, you can click the bookmark filter button Bookmark filter button (beside the Sort by list) to display only your bookmarked class cards.

      To add a nickname for a class, click the vertical ellipsis vertical ellipsis button button in the card of the class for which you want to create a nickname and select the Add Class Nickname option.

In the Add Class Nickname dialog box, type a nickname for the class and click Apply. The My Classes list updates to display the newly created nickname for the selected class.

      To view additional details and manage a class, click the View Class button in the class card. The Class Overview page appears and provides a quick overview of information and links to help you manage your class. See Navigate the Class Overview Page for complete details.

      To view and manage your rosters, click the Manage Roster button. The Roster page appears. (See About Class Rosters for details.)

 

Letter C

 Ready to Set Up Classes

 

This portion of the My Classes list shows classes assigned to you that have not yet been associated with programs.

To set up a class:

a.    In one of the class cards in the Ready to Set Up Classes area, click the Set Up button. A Class Set Up dialog box appears.

b.    In the Grade list and Subjects lists, select the grade and subjects for the class and then click Done.

The class appears in the top portion of the My Classes list.

 

Letter D

 Checklists

 

The Getting Started Checklists section provides access to a series of guides that help support and orient you as you begin working with Ed.

    In the Checklist box, do any of the following:

      Click the arrows to move through the checklist options available to you.

      Click a Checklist box to open the checklists available for that option.

Letter E

 Teacher Success Pathway

 

The Teacher Success Pathway provides training pathway items for programs that you selected in your teacher profile when you logged in to Ed at the start of the school year. Items for the selected program are displayed as topic cards showing the title, item type, and duration. The types of items differ by program and may include live events, videos, sample lesson plans, interactive sessions, and so on.

      If necessary, use the arrows to view additional items.

      In the View other programs list, you can select a different program. The items in this area will update to display the training pathway items for that program.

      To open the full Training Success Pathway page and begin a training path, click the View button in any topic card.

 Resource Center

 

Resource Center list of options

      How-To Guides – activates step-by-step tips that appear on your page to walk you through a task or key feature

      Video Based Training – lists any relevant training videos available that provide information about the open page

      Recommended Help Links – provides links to relevant help topics based on the page you are viewing

      Feedback – opens a dialog box in which you can provide feedback on the platform or programs
