Issue 11

by NorseGamer, HSM Editor-in-Chief

When HomeStation shifted to quarterly magazine issues, the primary reason was so that we would have sufficient time to develop really phenomenal cover stories. Our last two features — Ralph Baer and Richard Garriott — were properly big stories that didn’t happen overnight: they’re departures from the normal roads traversed by media devoted primarily to PlayStation Home.

Of course, once we committed to that shift in production, we then had to live up to what we’re already started. You have to keep raising the bar; if you stagnate, you die. And thus we are enormously pleased to bring you a truly superlative story as the cover of our eleventh issue:

James Arnold Taylor.

Played Final Fantasy X? He was the voice of Tidus.

Played any of the Ratchet & Clank sequels? He’s Ratchet.

Ever watch an episode of The Clone Wars? He’s Obi-Wan.

And here’s the crazy part: that’s just the tip of the iceberg with Mr. Taylor’s remarkable talent. Take a moment and watch this:

This is a clip from his one-man show, Talking To Myself, which I highly encourage you to check out. Like, now.

Seriously, if that video didn’t drop your jaw, something’s wrong with you. This is a prodigious level of talent. This man has entertained you, for years, across multiple mediums — and that work deserves a spotlight.

This issue of HSM is filled with some truly outstanding work, courtesy of tdarb, Susan, ted2112, estim20, Kassadee Marie, Gideon, terra_cide, johneboy1970, burbie52, SealWyf, Orion_NGC1976 and Godzprototype. With every issue, we endeavor to improve on what we’ve done before, and I daresay MJG74 and the entire production team have truly surpassed themselves once again. The website may be our core product, but the magazine issues themselves are our signature product — and there’s a lot going on in this issue.

We’d like to give special acknowledgement to James Arnold Taylor and Consetta Parker for making our cover story a reality; we owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude, and we hope you find the story as enjoyable to read as we found it to write.

From all of us at the HomeStation, thank you for coming with us on this ride.

    • NorseGamer says:

One of the many secondary goals we have with HSM is to help spread awareness of Eric Hoffer. His work should be required reading for…well, everyone, really. :D

      • Kassadee Marie says:

I wanted to ask you if he ever said anything nice?

        • NorseGamer says:

The thing about Hoffer’s writing is that it’s very direct, with no minced words. It’s not nice or nasty — it simply presents things as they are.

It can be difficult reading, because it’s easy to look at it as a very bleak worldview. Hoffer’s goal, however, was to arm the populace with knowledge. To take responsibility for oneself.

Given my own personal views, that ideology appeals to me considerably.

Amen, to that Norse Personally speaking his quotes remind me how it really is no BS putting it out there saying this is the truth like it hate it but except it and you will be better off . Thank You for the reply NorseGamer
