The Art of Tact
A poem by Olivia_Allin

Sometimes I am moved, for better or worse
To take on the challenge of writing in verse
Now I am no poet, no gift for the rhyme
And writing with rhythm takes much more time

But maybe a word dance is just what is lacking
To talk about hot topics like personal attacking
Or the cancer in Home that takes such a toll
The non creative art of being a troll

These ideas stir emotions on many a forum
And cause some sane people to lose all decorum
Threads that are woven in a tight caustic braid
Some condescension stirred in and accusations are made

Now I am one that can enjoy a well thought out debate
But I never when it is based on a foundation of hate
I know goody goody sounds like my ministry
And saying we shouldn’t practice “gift horse dentistry”

IQs may vary and some quite a lot
But to choose not to us them, an option its not
When confronted with trolling right up in your face
Disarm them with humor with charm and with grace

Don’t use your word arrows and aim for the heart
Try using your brain it is a much higher art
Or better yet just move on and attention give none
And don’t let other take control of you having your fun

It is not always easy, this I know for a fact
Sometimes I am guilty of not thinking before I act
No matter the out come when it is all said and done
If one sinks to their level then they already won

In real life there are wars and people are dieing
Taxes are high and politicians keep lying
So in the big picture does it matter at all?
That there is velvet ropes in the theater or you spawn in the mall

To question is good and your ideas you should state
But reason is lost when things morph into anger or hate
To argue with a fool is wrong from the start
Because from a distance no one can tell you apart.

Drama is drama, but I hope you will agree
That drama is best when it is watched on TV
And Home is a place where we all have the chance
To dress like a ninja and quest or Ska dance.

My poem is now over and I said quite a bit
And struggle to make sense and to make the words fit
Please understand when I wrote this I meant every word
As you can tell I am proud to be a big Home ner
d!

your poem is great,
of this i'll agree,
we put up with alot,
because home is quite free.
the trolls, the jerks,
the lines from lame noobs,
your name, your age,
i sure like your boobs.
the shame, the horror,
the comments when they pass,
to take them out back,
and pound salt up thier asK YOURSELF THIS!!
would home be half as fun without them?
maybe, but as i suspect the annoying dweeb
kneeling in front of your skirt is probably
the fat kid in class that eats paste, and NOT
the muscle bound jock he's portraying.
its all part and parcel of this amusing and wonderful
place we call home.
(p.s., i loved your poem, hun) mouse
