Post People quitting the PSN en mass...

I've got five good friends who also happen to be fellow PSN users. Each of the five of them has, in turn, told me about friends, friends of friends, etc. who are quitting the PlayStation Network. Obviously, the two big reasons people are choosing to leave now are identity theft and the lack of access to the online community, but the damage has already been done. I've been keeping a little tally board. When my friends have told me somebody's sold their PS3 and I know who the person is, I put them in row A. People whose names sound sorta familiar are row B, and people who I don't believe I know go in row C. Please keep in mind this is after just 5 days of me recording this:

A: 18
B: 5
C: 27

Value your friends while you can. The relationships we value can be fleeting in this life...
Naturally, the five PSN users I know irl are gonna be there the first day the network's back online (work permitting). They wouldn't abandon me.

Forgot to say that if a name wasn't given to me, I also lumped them into row C.

If you have any contact with your PSN friends outside of the network, post in this topic if you've heard of people leaving over this, and, if possible, provide a number.

That's really sad for the ones who are leaving. They are the ones who lose in the long run if they were in Home for any of the social aspects of gaming. I tried Second Life but without the common ground of sharing game experiences, it just wasn't the same. I have too many good friends in Home and too many PS3 games I love to play to sell my PS3. Perhaps what we will have after all this shakes out is a Home community that is primarily an older, social crowd of gamers whose Friend roots in here run really deep - sort of like the readers of HSM.

Even in the real world friendships can be fleeting under the best of circumstances and what we are talking about here is online friendships under duress.I'd say that anyone that's on your friends list that still uses home after this is probably a true friend indeed.I too am way too invested in Sony financially to jump ship nor would i bail on my friends that easily but i too have heard ppl say that they were done with Sony.Who knows how seriously they plan on following through on that remains to be seen but using your tally method above my #'s are as follows:

A:6
B:14
C:41

The above was compiled just from recent e-mails and in no way reflects the true # of ppl I've heard say this but is a bare minimum.

Sorry but people aren't going to run to another console maker and have to pay 60 dollars a year – a year – to get online services we enjoy here with PSN for free. People talk. They'll be back.

I know I'm not planning on leaving. And you think other services are immune from cyber terrorism think again. Sad part of this story is this may just be the beginning of very high profile attacks for which Sony is currently the victim of.

The terrorists have to be embolden by the results.

I have seen the people in the Sony forums boo-hooing and saying they are quitting the PSN and going to buy Xboxes. Well I say that if something like this makes you do something that drastic, I would hate to see your reaction to something really bad happening to you in a real life situation. Saying that you can't survive this outage without quitting is kind of a childish reaction I think, it is like a three year old throwing a temper tantrum because they didn't get to keep a toy you took away. I agree with granny, maybe this will help weed out a few the the immature trolls who inhabit plaza.

1 benefit of any mass exodus from Sony to XBox will be a flood of used Ps3's for sale,so if any1 needs a new Ps3 check-out websites like Craigslist you might get some good deals on consoles and games. If ppl want to sell their stuff cheap over this there's no reason you can't profit from their impatience.

I can't sympathize with people who sell their PS3 because they can't wait for the network to come back online, but I totally understand selling it because of personal information being stolen. While I'm not going to sell my PS3, it makes sense for those people who did dump their PS3's--much like it would make sense to get a new credit card number if your credit card was stolen.

Meh. Not my problem on either account. Halo Reach time. AW YEAH! xD
