I was this geeky kid that grew up in the arcades, and in that arcade was this community that i was constantly drawn to. Here in England the local punk Rockers with huge pink Mohicans that would smoke and drink and spit and snort as they hammered at the buttons looking for that high score to knock down the last player that came after that special place, that throne in what we call 'Platinum' Trophies today.
I watched in awe at the quick skill and flick of the wrist as these boys , not much older than i am, dodging missiles and Alien craft that would make kamakazee runs toward the player.
[i]Or on another machine, two brothers called Billy & Jimmy, using their martial arts skills to save a girlfriend from a local crime boss in 'Double Dragon'

The unmistakable Cry of "Haduken" from Streetfighter 2 can be heard at the far corner of the arcade as East Meets west as a young Japanese Kid takes on his oponent with deadly results.
This was the world of the real multiplayer, circa 1987.
And if you got smart, or ran your mouth, be prepared to take a beating.
It was all about respect here, and to see who was the best.
I came from a time (Orignally)in which games didnt really have pretty graphics and Loading a game onto your computer
took forever. (Cassette / Tape)Put it this way, you could take a shower, eat your lunch and THEN your game was ready to play. You just had to make sure that it was the game you really wanted to play.
It was an exciting time in which kids could have the tools and the manuals and the means to build their own games from scratch and got a buzz that other people were playing their games.
These days the Companies now step in, of which games can now be purely mass marketed and categorized.
The days of bedroom video game making are over. But the principles sre the same.
Video gaming evolved from my humble Atari 2600, to a Sega Genesis to the playstation I now see before me. All that talk back in the mid 80's of gaming shaped by Virtual Reality is here. From Space Invaders t0 Super Mario, then Streetfighter 2, and then 'Doom 'came along and completely changed the face of Video gaming. And I'm glad to see this change but Im also questioning and wondering just how far gaming can go. Will there one day be a new glove peripheral in which u can finally Grab and hold and suposedly 'Touch' this would shape a whole new avenue for gaming and beyond.
I have been told that with the new PS3, Sony and other developers have only scratched the surface with the console and wont see its full potential for another 5 years.
[i]Combine this with the new 3D, it would be truly mindblowing.
I can't wait for the next stage in gaming
