VEEMEE’s Skatepark Apartment

by Phoenix, HSM team writer

Did you miss out on the skateboard house from Red Bull before they left Home for other adventures?  Well, I didn’t; I had the opportunity to snap the space up, but have since grown bored with its only playable game. Yes, I can skateboard in the space, but only in the game unless I have a skateboard LMO — but no tricks can be done as they can in-game. Besides that, there was never any chance for add-ons or any improvement or changes to the space after Red Bull left.

I still visit the space for the décor and the ambiance, but I liked playing the game; the problem is that your guests can’t see you playing it, nor can you see them playing it.

That’s why I’m bringing up VEEMEE’s Hangar Skatepark Apartment.

The space is an old, abandoned aircraft hangar, open and spacious with enough room for ramps, bowls, grind rails and half pipes. VEEMEE’s space is available individually or as part of a bundle that contains two unique skateboard LMOs and a complete set of modular skatepark furniture pieces that can be used to create your own unique skate park configurations; something Red Bull’s House of Skate did not allow.

No, it isn’t a mini game like the Red Bull space has, but it is a better socially interactive way of hanging out with friends, and you can customize your space the way you want your park to appear and function, changing and adding to it whenever you feel the need for change.

The reason why I’m highlighting this space is because Home, at its best, replicates real-world brands and experiences in a slightly different way. When you’re dealing with a real brand and a real IP, you’re straitjacketed by what they can and cannot allow. Worse, you’re usually dealing with a company that sees Home strictly as a marketing tool, and doesn’t understand the nuances of what the consumer base is really looking for. Whereas a Home developer can take an established IP and bend it just enough to get away with something that isn’t copyright infringement, thus allowing for sufficient creative freedom to craft experiences that are bespoke for the Home audience.

Case in point: VEEMEE’s Hangar Skatepark Apartment is just better than Red Bull’s House of Skate. Check it out for yourself.
