Attitude Adjustment

Hand on heart, I swear this is true: I’m a proud owner of 95% of Lockwood’s footwear.

That’s dang-near every sneaker, stiletto, peep-toe high heel, boots, wedge heel, and pump available from the developer, produced over the course of Home’s virtual lifespan. This isn’t a slight towards any other Home developer; they all produce quality products. It’s just that when it comes to shoes, Lockwood — in my book — reigns supreme.

It boils down to aesthetics. The shoes are detailed, feminine, and accurate in design; they compliment any outfit you can imagine. Simple, right?

Observer Screenshot 8_26 AM 8_14_2014_1Well, a couple of months back, Lockwood released a line of clothing called Foal. Just in case you’re not in the know, this particular catalog features clothing that’s on casual side: clean, smooth lines, with an emphasis on modern comfort — a departure from Drey, which was casually upmarket, and certainly Figment, which is their formal line.

Personally, I feel that this line — Foal — caters to my tastes and personality the best.

That isn’t to say you can’t achieve more stylish looks with Foal; it just takes a bit of elbow grease and creative imagination to pull it off. We live in an era of historically unparalleled casual acceptance when it comes to clothing worn in public. But people do notice when you make a bit of an effort, and this is no different in a virtual society, either.

Observer Screenshot 8_27 AM 8_14_2014_1Foal’s recent release of the Bohemian Bliss bundle saw some snazzy goodies you could play with (or wear right off the rack, which I wouldn’t hold against you if you did). The Pointelle Jumper and Skater Skirts are both good items, but what I finally wish to highlight are the Attitude Boots.

They are, quite possibly, the best boots to ever grace my wardrobe.

Yeah, that’s a pretty intense statement for a Home fashion expert. But I stand by it.

Most boots in Home are aesthetically limited: whether they are too chunky in appearance (making them occasionally good for winter fashions) or lacking feminine lines that would contour with some of the leggings and jeans I own — thus causing “bleeding” through clothing layers and disappointment — it is surprisingly hard to find a good pair of boots in Home.

The Attitude Boots, on the other hand, are simply the answer. No, I will brook no argument on this.

There are three colors available for you to obtain: red and blue can be purchased from the store for just $0.99, while black can be gifted to you from a  friend.

Of the three colors, I don’t really have a favorite per se, but I do find myself using the red and black boots more than blue. They’re just more color accessible and purvey solid energy and flair with the outfits that would call for boots of same color (but different styles). Style-wise, you can go for a casual appeal — as what Carie achieved in the example here — or a more Gothic approach. The design itself is pretty simple alone, so it’s easy to achieve whatever style you desire.

I don’t find much use for the blue boots, but this is just me personally, because you don’t find that many shoes of that hue available, if at all. I was testing the blue boots with various clothing combinations, and certainly your mileage will vary, but it’s just not as versatile for me.

So how do these fine items stack up with the rest of the boots available? While I like the boots with the wedge heel option and some of the thigh-high boots found in Granzella’s catalogue, the lines executed here by Lockwood with the Attitude boots are more than enough without going overboard or leaving your attire appear overworked.

I do wish that these boots were easier to coordinate with some of the skinny jeans found in the Billabong catalog — namely the Peddler Denim Trousers — but that would also call for some more colors than the three currently available. If you ask me, I would love to see Lockwood release more color options such as pink, white, and maybe purple in the same design, minus the chain motif. Can’t blame Lockwood for sticking with the colors that tend to sell the best in Home, though.

Overall, the Attitude Boots from Foal are a must if you’re looking for stylish, casual boots that would fit with almost anything in your wardrobe. Should they come with more colors to choose from (under the Foal brand, of course), it would seriously make my day.
