Decorating the Challenge Spaces – Sky Temple of Fratos

by Kassadee Marie, HSM team writer

The phrase “Greco-Roman world” refers to those Mediterranean territories and countries — including Greece and Italy, of course — that were closely linked in ancient times by religion, art, culture, philosophy, government, ideals, and at times even language. This was at the point in time where Greek was accepted as the language of intellect, and Latin as the public language among the educated class of people.

Architecture of the Roman world that followed the principles and style of ancient Greece is also called Greco-Roman. Well-known structures that represent that style that still exist today, in part, and they include government buildings, like the Roman Senate, Curia Julia, and cultural structures, like the Colosseum. The most representative building of that era was the temple, such as the famous Parthenon.

The second personal estate that could have been won in Home from Sony, by way of their Challenges program, is a temple for the imaginary god Fratos, which seems to have been styled after Academy of Athens. This is a fantasy space, floating high in the sky, without any visible means to do so. It has great details, such as Doric columns, patterned marble floors and picturesque crumbling ruins; great views including a giant stone hand with endless cascades of water, which also floats nearby; and it’s a lot of fun to decorate. A Greek Medusa’s head medallion located on the temple doors and above the dais is the only clue as to the derivation of this temple, unless you look at the borders of the marble floors, which could be a Greek or Roman border design. As closely related as Greek and Roman mythologies were, we can just call this a fantasy Mediterranean temple. Therefore, you are certainly free to choose between fantasy, Greek or Roman-themed items or combine them and still not be in conflict with the motif here.

Black Pegasus2

If you choose a Greco-Roman motif, note that two of the challenge rewards have been Greek items that you could use here. These are a Greek temple table and temple chair, from Season Four and Season Five, respectively. Also, if you choose this theme, and you own the Jewel of the Skies personal space, be sure to pick up the Minotaur statue reward from the Kingdom of the Skies semi-public space to use here. Either the black or white Pegasus statues from Lockwood’s Dream Yachts would be a nice addition, too. A while back, the Lockwood Showcase offered several rewards for playing a game there, and one of these was a gray stone dragon statue. You may want to check your inventory for this item, also.

In addition, there may be more suitably thematic furnishings in Home than you realize, and a lot of these items are sold by Sony itself, in the Originals furniture store. By the way, most of these things are included in the original “100 Items Super Bundle,” which can be purchased very reasonably, especially if you’re a PlayStation Plus Member. Included in this pack are Greek pots, model ships, full-sized statues, and furniture, including beds, sofas, tables, chairs, and more.

There are Greek and Roman-inspired clothes to be found in the Home stores, also. You can even dress as a mythical god or goddess. And, of course, there are dragon wings, dragon tattoos, dragon head and tails, dragon companions, dragon rides, and LMOs that turn your own avatar into a dragon.

If instead you choose a fantasy theme, it’s almost “anything fantastical goes”. However, dragons are a very popular fantasy item in Home, and you may want to consider this for your fantasy motif. Kovok had a really nice free gift called the “Dragon’s Endless Sand Timer” that you’ll want to use here, if you have it. The Gothic Manor personal estate has a dragon goblet that’s a very nice ornamental object, given out to owners and their guests. A gold dragon statue can be picked up from the “Infinity Pool” part of the Mansion, also.

Ajagara Dragon Pillar

You can find many colors and designs of dragon statues in the Sony Originals store, and a few other furniture items as well in other stores, such as a dragon head shelf and a dragon with aragonite statue in Lockwood’s Delirious Squid store. Lockwood’s Fool Throttle store offers two dragon-themed items, a dragon skull and a dragon egg display case, in their Roguish Charm Collection. Also, Lockwood’s new space, Ajagara’s Peak, has rewards and a separate furniture pack, with most pieces being dragon-themed and very colorful. Some of these are a “dragon pillar”, a bed, and a weapon rack. If you plan to use an active item and can afford 22 furniture slots, Sony Originals offers a fun item of a miniature dragon in a large cage, and it’s inexpensive, very cute and quite entertaining.

If you choose any other fantasy theme, a quick search through the available items on AlphaZone4.com will bring up any rewards or purchasable items for you. Whatever theme you choose, ToyLogic makes two partially destroyed structures that look great here. These are the “Crumbled Gate” and the “Stone Pillar Gazebo”. Be sure to check out these items.

These challenge personal estates are really great rewards from Sony, with interesting themes that make decorating them fun, easy, and gratifying. Hopefully, you’ve been picking up these simple-to-earn estates, and are enjoying decorating them, too. If not, it isn’t too late to earn some great estates and fun items in the current and future Challenge seasons.

Home is endlessly entertaining to this California girl. Kassadee has been in Home for about four years, and loves almost everything about it (with a few notable exceptions). She spends way too much money there, and perhaps too much time... Someday she will travel the world and write about the people she meets and the places she sees.
