HomeStation Presents: Caption This Picture #20
by NorseGamer, HSM Publisher
So we’ve got something fun for you: hot on the heels of our previous entry into this series, which featured SCEA Digital Platforms’ Operations Supervisor Nathan Perretta, we now get to take a crack at captioning SCEA Digital Platforms’ Release Manager, Eric Brummel!
Eric and Nathan are basically a tag-team dynamic duo of awesomeness. In Eric’s case, when it comes to the Home community, he’s completely behind the scenes — but I promise you that every Home developer knows exactly who he is; nothing makes it into SCEA Home without appearing on Eric’s radar. And that’s what makes him absolutely perfect for a Caption This Picture entry: it’s important to demonstrate that Home is more than just a line item on a spreadsheet — that it is cared for by a bunch of awesome people whom you’ll probably never see or interact with, who nonetheless spend their time constantly working on improving the Home experience.
Eric’s one of the nicest, most unassuming people I’ve ever met. Don’t get me wrong — he knows how to rock a cool shirt and a pose — but you always get the clear sense that he’s just a really nice, straightforward guy whom you’d genuinely want to hang out and have a conversation with. Some fun tidbits:
His knowledge of Star Trek > your knowledge of Star Trek. For real, yo. He took a weekend off and went to Sha Ka Ree. Not even kidding.
- From his LucasArts days, there is a photo of him with George Lucas. And he’s dressed as a stormtrooper. Seriously awesome.
- He’s a huge Giants and 49ers fan.
- I absolutely guarantee that he spends more leisure time outdoors than you do.
- He’s legitimately gifted as a photographer.
I actually want to expand a bit on that last point. It seems like, in this digital age we live in, with multi-megapixel cameras and sophisticated editing software, anyone can be a decent photographer. Given the sheer amount of content that’s out there now, it can be daunting to find truly superlative material — except that such material speaks for itself. And when it comes to Eric’s photography, especially his nighttime cityscapes, the work really does speak for itself. The guy just has a natural knack for photography, in the same way that some people naturally shine in painting, or sculpting, or something else: a certain undefinable quality that separates the technically proficient from the truly talented.
Anyway, enough exposition. HomeStation readers, you know what to do: caption this picture!
