HomeStation Presents: Caption This Picture #19

by NorseGamer, HSM Publisher

There are, in fact, a lot of talented people who work behind the scenes at SCEA and SCEE to keep Home going. Some of them, such as Jack Buser or Paul Sullivan, you already know (our interview with Paul is the currently featured video on the site’s front page, in case you want to meet the man behind the Tempest). But there are others, who aren’t necessarily community-facing, that you may not be familiar with. Peter, Mark, Andy, Angela, Sara, Simon, Thom, Natalie and several others over at SCEE, for instance. Or, in SCEA, Matt, Paul, Chris, Nathan, Eric, Jason, Sean, and many more.

Since I handle PlayStation app production, Home production and social media for LOOT, I’ve been fortunate enough to interface with a lot of these people; and I consider several of them to be good friends. If you haven’t interacted with them, trust me: it may sound a bit cliché, but they really do care about Home. Recently, I was hanging out with the Home guys at the new SCEA digs in San Mateo, and you wouldn’t believe how much fun we had just talking about Home stuff.

The guy I’m singling out for this particular entry in our Caption This Picture series is Digital Platforms’ Operations Supervisor, Nathan Perretta.

Some of you reading this have actually interacted with Nathan already, although you might not have known it; he was wreaking havoc in the recent “Sink SCEA!” Cutthroats tournament with Paul. Guys like Nathan, Eric, Jason and Sean may not be overtly visible to the community, but every Home developer reading this knows exactly who they are and the importance of what they do. Melissa and I met Nathan at E3 last year, and I got to hang out with him again a few months later at IndieCade (although my voice was so blown out from two days of using a loudspeaker at the LOOT booth that I probably sounded like Harvey Fierstein in a blender). Just an all-around awesome guy.

nathan_caption3 So now then. Some facts about Nathan:

  • You are not as cool as he is. The whiteboard at his station has a formal poll written on it: “ARE YOU A JABRONI?” (This poll has several responses so far.)
  • Along similar lines: he does the best People’s Eyebrow you’ll ever see.
  • At his desk, there is a Superman-esque action figure with the Home logo emblazoned on its chest. I want this action figure. So do you.
  • His fashion sense > your fashion sense. No, really.
  • Eric once photoshopped him doing martial arts splits between two big-rig trucks. Well, “photoshopped” is what they told the public.
  • This guy rips out one-liners like you wouldn’t believe. Example: “Wait…Bruce Jenner’s a guy?”

Right. With all of that as prologue, you know what to do, Home users: caption this picture!
