The Top Ten SCEA Home Value Items for February 2014
by Kassadee Marie, HSM team writer
Value, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
In other words: what one person sees as value, another person may not. Value, as I understand it, is a cost-to-worth relationship — and I can only tell you what I perceive as having value in Home purchases. It should be no surprise that bundles make up the majority of the best values on Home, as combined items sell for less in a pack than they do when purchased separately. You may not want every item in a bundle, but when you like most of the items included, they can be quite a bargain. Following are the new items that I consider are the best value for the past month and I’ll tell you why I think so, for each item or package. This isn’t a list of my favorite things for the month, and they’re not always the least expensive item(s), either.
Note: I don’t number the items, as this is not meant to be a top value to least value list, but just my top choices for the month overall. I don’t include free items and I also don’t try to choose one of each type of item, such as estate, locomotion, furniture pack, clothing item, etc. If I had, this would have been a somewhat different list.
Jam Games’ Roger and Sean Bundle for $ 3.49 or Penny Scarlett or Jenny Black Bundle for $4.49. Look like James Bond or a Bond Girl with these exceptional espionage bundles. With the male pack you received two complete tuxedos, one with a black dinner jacket and one with a white dinner jacket. Purchased separately these items would be $5.96, so that’s a nice little savings. The female packages would be $10.43 purchased separately, so they are an even greater savings. Choose between the two seven-piece sets (three complete outfits) in red or black for her. The black outfits have a blood-red lace panels in the tops.
Atom Republic’s Valentine’s Bundle for $ 6.49. You’ve wanted to dance or cuddle with a partner – or even be carried in his arms – on Home, and here’s your chance. Well, nearly. While you’re not dancing with another person’s avatar, this is a close approximation to what we’ve been wanting. Purchased separately, these four locomotions and six gestures (three for each gender) would set you back almost $15, so this bundle is less than half of that. If you’ve seen them, you know they are fun and funny and if you haven’t seen them yet (somehow), ask around. These just might be the locomotions you’ve been wanting.
nDreams’ Name in Lights Bundles for $2.99 or $3.99 (jumbo). It’s really very simple. Twenty six letters for just under $3.00 or just under $4.00. Personalize. Leave your name, write your message, tell her or him without speaking. Choose the letters in glow, gold, or cosmic colors in your choice of two sizes.
KOVOK’s King of Hearts Bundle or Midnight Bundle for $ 1.99 for the guys and Queen of Hearts Bundle or Midnight Bundle for $ 2.49 for the ladies. While the name of the two of these packs might remind you of Alice in Wonderland, these items were definitely not made for children. Sophisticated, stylish, and detailed, any one of these four packs is a great value purchase. The packs for the guys are just under $2.00 for a set of two items and the packs for the ladies are just under $2.50 for three or four items. You can also pick up a little something extra, such as a hairstyle or hand-held rose for just $.99 to complete the romantic look.
Codeglue’s Lady Valentine Set for $ 2.99 each. When you see a Dani outfit, you know it, without needing to ask. There’s a certain something – perhaps the great feminine style and attention to detail – that’s lets you know you’re looking at one of her sets. For her latest, you can choose between black, lavender, and hot, hot pink in four-pieces sets of two styles of tops and two styles of bottoms with stay-ups and shoes. Don’t wait for next Valentine’s Day; wear them all year long and be noticed.
VEEMEE’s Evil Shadows – Bundle Volume 01 for $ 6.49. If you’re looking for something different – really different — this bundle may be just what you’re looking for. Purchased separately, these items would cost almost $12.00 and even just three of them would be almost $9.00, so the pack is a savings even if you don’t gender-swap. These rough-hewn black figures give the illusion of diabolic shadows, just as the name implies, and they are interesting character choices. Be the shadow of a scary humanoid figure, a dragon, or an eagle, as the mood suits you.
VEEMEE’s Mythical Creatures Avatars – Gorgon or Celestial Guardian for $ 2.99 or Mermaid for 250 tokens in the 3D printer. Finally, finally, females are properly represented in the mythical lineup offered to us by VEEMEE. While there’s nothing to say that any of the other creatures aren’t female (especially the unicorn), these three items are very definitely female. These avatars are also very interesting and well detailed and will garner a lot of attention wherever you go on Home.
Lockwood’s Gigabyte Value Pack (for him) or The Black Vixen Value Pack (for her) for $ 1.99 with the Cape of Flight or Flame Flight for $ 2.99 each. You know and I know there’s a hero or heroine in us, waiting for the right moment to burst forth and perform good deeds for those in need. Well, now is the time and Home is the place. “Up, up, and away!” You’ll need your item of flight, too. For $2.99 choose your cape in red, white, or blue or choose flame flight in red or blue. And, of course, you’ll want to add the just right hairdo; choose between The Ben or The Hunter for him and The Savannah or The Destiny for her for only $.99 each. Look good, while doing good.
VEEMEE’s Emergency Services – Bundles for $ 5.49. Be a hero or heroine of a different kind with these ultra-bundles from VEEMEE. Roll playing on Home can be a lot of fun; it’s like Halloween all year long. These outfits are perfect for machinimists as well, when making an exciting video. These bundles include the locomotion vehicles and the complete outfits for females and males. The locomotion alone is priced at $2.99, so this is a value purchase. Choose between “Search and Rescue”, “Fire Department” and for March, “Ambulance Service” and “Police Force”.
nDreams’ The LED Ticker Bundle for $5.49. Say it in lights! Another way to leave your message, especially those longer messages, is to write it in LED. This bundle includes the standard, free-standing, and wall mounted versions at a $4.98 savings over the individually purchased price. That’s almost half-off!
Are we seeing less content this last month? It seems so to me, as I found it easier than usual to pick my top ten value items for February. Although I have nothing against re-skins, I’ll be unlikely to add them to my monthly article, as these really aren’t new items. After an initial offering, I don’t usually select bundles that come out month after month with just a change of color, pattern, or (sometimes slight) change in style. Which is not to say that you might not want one or more of these bundles now or at a later date. They’re still great bargains with items that may appeal to you especially. I hope you are all doing your own value hunting, too.
