Wishful Thinking: DUANE!

by Jin Lovelace, HSM team writer & filmmaker

Here are a few personal Home wishlist items which came to fruition:

  • Facepalm Emote: check.
  • Martial Arts LMOs: check.
  • Fashion Poses and LMOs: check.
  • Fashion boutique personal estates: check.

Not much of a list, but it’s something. There haven’t been many things that I can say I’m thankful for, but what I do wish is for is to have pop-culture icons show up in our virtual world. It gives it a greater sense of relevancy.

If you’re familiar with the Barbie brand, then you’ll know of the plethora of goods they’ve released. Mattel were the ones responsible for your awesome childhood, if you were into their fashion dolls. More often than not, they inspired some of the youths back then to be the “stars” that you see now. Sometimes, it’s our toys and entertainment which best reflect upon our values as a culture, both personally and professionally.

To the point: a best friend showed me this video during a discussion about what we wished to see in Home. Honestly, it’s been a long time since I laughed this hard. And it suddenly dawned on me to request this phenomenon for Home.

So why do I wish to see this classic dance step in Home? Really simple: because it looks so dang cool. When you see the host inquire to Duane what fashion trends he follows, you see a kid who is cool, calm and collected. He provides a clear, straightforward answer. And then he busts out with…well, see for yourself.

With all of the pop-culture dance LMOs around in Home, why not have something like this available? I would love to have this dance as an endless loop. Admit it: so do you. But see for yourself with this video to get the gist of what I’m talking about. You be the judge on the “cool” factor and whether or not it would make you laugh in Home.
