Sodium2: Let the Races Begin

by Susan, HSM team writer

When you are fitted in a racing car and you race to win, second or third place is not enough. -Ayrton Senna

Recently we watched the Great American Race of 2014 — the Daytona 500 — come down to a “green-white-checker”. A yellow flag came out just before NASCAR’s favorite son, Dale Earnhardt Jr., zipped across the finish line for a second time in his career. The last ten laps were intense as each car was jockeying for position and trying to connect with a fellow teammate at close to two-hundred miles an hour, and doing that with less than a couple feet of separation between the cars, and also doing that going three-wide into a turn. No wonder millions of people watch these races on television or go to one of the many racetracks, where over several hundred-thousand will gather for these events.

Catch me if you can!

Catch me if you can!

For those of us who are Home users and also racing fans, there’s only one place in PlayStation Home were we can go and compete in real-time, head to head, multiplayer racing action — or just race against the clock solo — and that is the Sodium2 Velocity racetracks from Lockwood Publishing. Playing the game and leveling up will unlock a vast selection of rewards for your personal space, your avatar and for your race craft. This is a totally free game to play, but I decided it was faster to buy items which allowed me to score better lap times rather than unlock upgrades at a slower rate via grinding.

Lockwood Publishing recently began a monthly event for the PlayStation Home community at the Sodium2 public space. It is a time were racers can meet, greet and trade secrets on how to go even faster. The events are scheduled to occur every first Saturday of the month, and the last one brought out several newcomers to the sport of this type of racing. The event happens in both the SCEE and SCEA regions of Home, and to find out more information about this and other Lockwood Publishing events happening on PlayStation Home, check out their Facebook page or follow them on Twitter for their immediate updates.

I have been addicted to this game since day one. I love this game so much that we even made an award-winning video about it. Come out to this new event happening in Home and meet some new — and maybe not so new — people. I look forward to letting you try to pass me at the Sodium2 Velocity racetracks; remember, if you’re not first, then you’re last.

Just an added note that we will be broadcasting this event live on our twitch channel, so if you can’t make it you can then watch the action as it unfolds live at the Sodium 2 race tracks.
